  1.                    New Features of ONE TO ONE version 2.0

  3.                 (How version 2.0 is better than version 1.0)

  5. * Smooth Typing During File Transfers
  6.   It was hard to do.  You'll appreciate the difference this makes!
  7.  
  8. * CTRL Characters Can Send Messages
  9.   The CTRL characters can have messages mapped to them.  This means that
  10.   you could set up CTRL-S to send "Send the file in 10 seconds, OK?", for
  11.   example.  This is a very powerful and nice feature that was added after
  12.   recognizing that I frequently typed the same messages in my conversations.
  13.   I have mine set up so that when I want to greet someone, I press CTRL-G
  14.   and it prints a welcoming message.  Use your imagination.  It's fun.
  15.   You can edit the messages associated with the CTRL keys with the new Keys
  16.   pull-down menu.

  18. * Larger Phone Directory
  19.   The phone directory has been expanded to hold 100 entries.  Also, you may
  20.   now print the phone directory to the printer.

  22. * Redial Last Number
  23.   ALT-R will redial the last number that was dialed from the directory.

  25. * End Of Message Indicator
  26.   If you want to indicate that you've finished a thought and are waiting
  27.   for a reply, press CTRL-ENTER.  The other user will get the following...
  28.   A "space", A smiley face, A Carriage Return.  All you will see is a CR.
  29.   You don't have to use this if you don't want to.  (Another use for it
  30.   might be to show that something you've typed was meant to be said with
  31.   a grin.)

  33. * Save The Dividing Bar Position
  34.   After changing the position of the dividing bar to suit your taste (use
  35.   the "Screen" pull down menu), select 'Save OPTIONS.121' from the "Files"
  36.   menu. Then, every time you run ONE TO ONE, the dividing bar will appear
  37.   at the saved location.

  39. * Edit Modem Initialization String
  40.   In version 1.0 you had to erase OPTIONS.121 and start over.  Now you can
  41.   pull down the "Modem" menu and select 'Edit Modem Initialization'.  The
  42.   edited initialization string will is saved for future use.

  44. * Save Current Communications Parameters
  45.   After changing parameters ('Alt-P' or the "Modem" pull-down menu), pull
  46.   down the "Files" menu and select 'Save OPTIONS.121'. The parameters will
  47.   be saved for future use.

  49. * Change Monitor Types
  50.   The "Screen" pull-down menu has a new selection called 'Change Monitor
  51.   Types'.  You can use this option to select one of the three color schemes
  52.   that ONE TO ONE handles.  (In the old days, you had to erase OPTIONS.121
  53.   and start over again to reconfigure your screen.)

  55. * Select Dialing Mode
  56.   The "Phone" pull-down menu has a new choice called 'Select Dialing Mode'.
  57.   With it, you can select between Pulse or TouchTone service.  (This was 
  58.   another one of those things that required starting over again in the 
  59.   previous release, version 1.0)

  61. * Command Line Arguments
  62.   You can dial a directory listing upon starting ONE TO ONE by adding the
  63.   listing number to dial after the 121 at the DOS prompt.
  64.     Example:  "121 87"   would run ONE TO ONE and immediately dial directory
  65.   entry number 87.
  66.   Also, you can type "121 A" and your modem will be put in Auto-Answer mode
  67.   upon entering ONE TO ONE.  (upper or lower case 'A' will work)

  69. * Go From Data To Voice
  70.   The Phone pull-down menu has a new entry.  This will do the same thing as
  71.   though you had pressed ALT-H in terminal mode.  You and your friend should
  72.   pick up your phones before doing this.  I personally will always just
  73.   pressed ALT-H but I put it in here for the sake of consistency.

  75. * Print Directory
  76.   In the Dialing Directory you can press P to print your directory listing
  77.   to your printer.

  79. * Environment Variable "121PATH"
  80.   In order to support networking I have changed the code so that it looks
  81.   for an envirnment variable called 121PATH whenever it tries to load or
  82.   save ONE TO ONE system files.  The use of the 121PATH environment variable
  83.   is optional.  Don't read anymore about this feature unless you are a
  84.   "power user".

  86.   How this benifits people running Local Area Networks...
  87.     They can have 121.EXE in a public directory.  They can keep their phone
  88.     directory, options file, and CTRLTEXT file in a personal directory.
  89.     Whenever they run ONE TO ONE it will look to wherever 121PATH points
  90.     to load the configuration files. This way, there need only be ONE copy
  91.     of ONE TO ONE on the network.  Everybody can have their own seperate
  92.     configuration files. (NOTE: this does not affect downloading files.)

  94.   How this benefits Everyone...
  95.     If you set 121PATH to point to your ONE TO ONE subdirectory, you can run
  96.     ONE TO ONE from any subdirectory on your hard disk and it will 
  97.     automatically find all of its set-up files.  This means that you can
  98.     change directories to the subdirectory where you want your files to be
  99.     downloaded and then run ONE TO ONE from there.  With version 1.0 you
  100.     had to ALT-Z to DOS and change directories and then type EXIT. That
  101.     was handy but this is even better.

  103. * New File Names
  104.   The phone directory has used to be named "121PHONE.DIR" but now it is
  105.   called PHONEDIR.121.  This was done so that all of the ONE TO ONE config-
  106.   uration files would end with the extension ".121"   Note that the file
  107.   that holds the CTRLTEXT information is written to the disk as
  108.   "CTRLTEXT.121".

  110. * Fixed Share A File
  111.   You are now taken back to terminal mode upon leaving Share A File. 
  112.   Version 1.0 left you in menu mode.
