  2.          Finally, here is the new release of TimeSaver Schedule Manager.
  3.          First, let me express our appreciation to all the people who have
  4.          called or written to comment about the program and to offer
  5.          suggestions about improving it.  If your suggestion did not get
  6.          incorporated into this version, it certainly is not because I did
  7.          not consider them.  This version and all of its new features and
  8.          improvments are a direct result to the feedback we received, and
  9.          that's what's kept me going this past year that I've been working
  10.          on Version III.

  12.          Also, let me especially thank the many individuals who have shown
  13.          their support by registering the program with MicroCon.  It is
  14.          only through this kind of effort that good shareware software can
  15.          continue to exist at reasonable expense to us all, and I hope that
  16.          the response from this release will be as good.  Even though the
  17.          package is vastly improved, we have elected not to increase the
  18.          registration fee of $25.00 which we feel is appropriate in view of
  19.          the utility of the program.  All those who have registered within
  20.          the last year will be upgraded at no charge, while those who
  21.          registered before that time may renew their registration for
  22.          $10.00 which just about covers our cost for the materials and
  23.          shipping.

  25.          Those who are familiar with earlier versions will be happy to see
  26.          that we have not changed the basic concept of the screen display
  27.          or the user interface, except that extensive use of pop-up windows
  28.          have been incorporated, thanks to Phil Mongelluzzo and his "Window
  29.          Boss" library.  The Roman calendar format and the exclusive block
  30.          graphic representation were retained, as were the full-screen
  31.          pointer movement activities.  The internal editor for the creation
  32.          and editing of "information" files was abandoned in favor of the
  33.          use of the your editor of choice, since it was felt that most
  34.          users do not desire to learn another editor or set of keystrokes.

  36.          This version is written completely in Microsoft 'C' Version 4.  I
  37.          would have used Version 5, but the database library was not fully
  38.          compatible until recently.  I did not see much added advantage of
  39.          switching to Version 5 at this late date.  The load module is just
  40.          about half the size of the old version and, our tests indicate
  41.          that its about five times faster.

  43.          The bad news is that the file format needed to be changed and we
  44.          have not yet written a conversion program, even though we intend
  45.          to do so.  The new format is still dBase III compatible and so is
  46.          the locator or index file, so all you dBase fans can have a ball
  47.          creating your own reports and programs.  The file structure is
  48.          fully documented in the doc file.

  50.          Some of the improvments that have been incorporated in this
  51.          version include:

  53.          1. 24 hour/day scheduling capability.
  54.  
  55.          2. One-minute time increments manually, 5 and 30 minutes
  56.             automatic with pointers.
  57.  
  58.          3. Overlapping appointments for those of you who have discovered
  59.             how to be in two places at once or do several different things
  60.             concurrently.
  61.  
  62.          4. Complete task management system (to-do list) separate from
  63.             scheduling functions.
  64.  
  65.          5. User assigned and color-coded special day tags.
  66.  
  67.          6. Five different report formats with capability to route any to a
  68.             text file.  Three are text only, two are graphically oriented.
  69.  
  70.          7. All text readouts have times spelled out in conventional AM/PM
  71.             formats.

  73.          8. Complete compatibility with Multi-TimeSaver package.
