YOUR PERSONAL TRAVEL AGENT -- TRIP.EXE version 1.20
══════════════════════════════════════ 12-21-1987
BACKGROUND:
═══════════
Trip is being provided as shareware along with the request that
users assist in defraying the cost of development by sending a
donation of $5.00 to support development of programs like these.
The writer assumes no liability for its performance or the
accuracy of the data it generates.
To date the only known short coming of TRIP is the limited number
of towns in the data base.
If you like the program, have suggestions, or feel it has promise,
drop me a note, I will appreciate hearing from you.

START UP:
═════════
FIRST SCREEN:
═════════════
The first screen of Trip allows basically four (4) choices;
1) F10 Terminate / Quit
2) F 8 Use a Previous Trip Data File
3) Pick One of 25 States for starting the trip
4) Z Toggle to the other 25 States
F8 will only be usable after you have generated at least one
trip.
SECOND SCREEN:
══════════════
Once you pick a starting state the next screen will give you
two choices;
1) Pick a starting town within the State
2) F10 Terminate/Quit
FOLLOWING SCREENS:
══════════════════
After you have picked your starting state and town each screen
following will display column of 20 cities down the left hand
side of the screen. These are 20 closest towns linked to the
last town you picked. The upper right hand corner of the
screen will display a pseudo map with you in the center and
displaying the 20 towns around you to give a sense of which
town to pick to continue your travels.
At this point you will have 4 choices;
1) F10 Terminate/Quit
2) Choose one 20 towns
3) U Start new Leg
4) V End Trip
Pressing option U will create a stopover in the final output,
pressing option V will start the process of generating the
final output.
FINAL OUTPUT:
═════════════
Once you have pressed the V option you will be asked a series
of questions;
1) Normal Freeway driving speed (Default = 60)
2) Starting Time (Default = 6:00)
3) Starting AM or PM (Default = AM)
Note: The Starting Time and AM/PM will be asked for
each leg.
4) A file name for the trip, up to eight (8)
characters with NO EXTENTSION.
THE SYSTEM WILL THEN:
═════════════════════
1) Create file xxxx.DAT (The data file to be called if
you ever choose to re use the trip)
2) Create file xxxx.TXT (The display and printable file
for viewing or printing your trip)
3) Display/List the current trip.
Notes on file management;
You can delete the .TXT files as they are easy to
regenerate using the F8 (Previous trip option) as long
as you have not deleted the .DAT file.
When you use the previous trip option you will be
asked the series of Speed, starting time, questions
again which allows you to use the same trip but create
different schedules.
PLAY WITH IT: - Within the limits of the number of towns contained
═════════════ in TRIP you should find it to be a computerized
substitute for a travel atlas.
