Version 1.0
The Computerized `Black Book' and More
By: David Jirku
WHAT IS SUPER∙LOG?
Super∙Log is a program that lets you keep records of your
Girl/Boy friends as you would in a regular "Black Book".
This program is quick and easy to use and contains a few
useful utilities. It has been writen with the user in mind,
you won't find any clumsy parts in this program. It is very
straight forward and easy to use. Super∙Log was writen
because I needed a way to remember all the girls I had dated,
and what their favorite color was, where I took them last
time I had gone out with them, among other things. Super∙Log
has 25 fields for you to enter information into, this makes
for a very detailed record of each individual.
WHAT SHOULD I DO BEFORE I RUN SUPER∙LOG?
Before running Super∙Log, you should run the SLCONFIG file
to configure the colours and options of Super∙Log so that it
runs with no problems on your computer. You can configure the
following things:
Normal Foreground Color ─┐
├─ Colors of all normal text.
Normal Background Color ─┘
Help Foreground Color ─┐
├─ Colors of all help screens.
Help Background Color ─┘
Prompt Foreground Color ─┐
├─ Colors when waiting for user input
Prompt Background Color ─┘
Status Bar Foreground Color ─┐
├─ Colors of status bar.
Status Bar Background Color ─┘
WHAT DO I DO AFTER I RUN SLCONFIG?
Just run the program SL.EXE to load Super∙Log. The first screen
you will see will be based on your video configuration. EGA/VGA
users will see an enhanced display, while the lesser video mode
adapters will see a normal display.
The second screen will ask you your name, and then it will enter
the main Super∙Log menu. The options are pretty simple, but here
is a run down of what they do:
1. EDIT NEW DATA
* This option will enter the editing screen for new
data.
2. LOAD OLD DATA
* Retrieve a previously saved file, then enter the editing
screen.
3. PRINT SAVED DATA
* Print up a previously saved file. You select a file, and
it is sent to the printer to be printed up in the Super∙Log
format.
4. SPARKLE EFFECTS
* This option modifies the Sparkle Effect on the help screens.
The default is ON, and when a help screen is displayed, a
sparkle effect is activated after 2 seconds.
5. PRINT ORDERFORM
* Use this option to Print up the Registraion form for
Super∙Log. After printing, fill it in with the apropriate
information and mail it to:

6. QUIT
* Exit from Super∙Log and return to DOS.
HOW DO I ENTER DATA?
Select one of two options at the main menu. First, you can
select choice one, to start entering new data, or option
two to load previously saved data which you can now edit.
WHAT CAN I ENTER AS DATA?
There are 25 data fields as follow...

perfect
24 - Why did you rate Him/Her that?
25 - Why did you rate Him/Her that?
WHAT ARE THE COMMAND KEYS?
F1 is the help key, it should tell you all you need to know.
F2 is to save the current data to disk. Prompts for file name
to save as. I suggest you use something to do with that
particular record. For example, say you just entered Juan
Patrick's record, I would enter Juan_Par as the file name.
All names have an extension of .SL so you don't load other
non-Super∙Log files by accident.
F3 is to load data saved previously to disk. Do this at the main
menu.
F4 is System Information. It tells you four pieces of info:
1 : Color system?
2 : Is mouse installed?
3 : Do you have EGA/VGA?
4 : Is the printer ready?
F5 is a Mini-DOS shell that lets you delete the file you chose.
Use the cursor keys to move up and down. Press space bar to
toggle between big and small listing.
Once you find the file you want to delete, hi-light it
and press ENTER. You have the option of changing your mind
after you have selected.
F6 to F10 Blank, for future use.
ALT-H brings up the help screen for ALT-key's.
ARE THERE COMMAND LINE OPTIONS?
Yes. There is one. At the command line, type in SL Your_Name to
skip the name prompting screen. A user suggested it would be
quicker if I included this option, for use in Batch files or menu
systems. Substitute Your_Name for David or whatever your name is.
example: SL DAVID
would load Super∙Log and skip the name prompting screen.
CAN I PRINT MY SAVED DATA?
Yes! Once you have entered data and saved it to disk, you can
print it. All you need is an IBM ProPrinter compatible printer.
To print, select the PRINT option at the main menu. Then select
the file containing the data (which you saved before) you wish
to print. It's that easy!
HOW CAN I REACH THE AUTHOR?
You can reach me by three ways, first, call The Dark Cavern BBS at
(416) 663-1543 to get the current version of Super∙Log or just
to leave me a message. If you write me a message, address it to
Dungeon Master, or user number 17.
The second way is to call the Co-Support board, Forbidden Knights at
(416) 820-7273, also used to distribute the lastest Super∙Log and
to provide a support message base for Super∙Log. If you write me a
message, address it to Dungeon Master, or user number 17.
The third way is to write to me by mail. My address is:
725 Vermouth Ave.
Unit 33
Mississauga, Ont.
L5A 3X5
CANADA
I love to hear from anyone that has used my program, even if their
comments are not what I'd like to hear. If you have ANY comments,
suggestions, bug reports (Oh no!) or just want drop me a note, by
all means do so.
CAN I REGISTER SUPER∙LOG?
Sure, just write a check or money order to David Jirku, for the
amount you feel I deserve (NOTE: There is not MINIMUM, if you feel
a nickel will do, send it). I will glady except all contributions.
IS THAT ALL THE DOCUMENTAION?
YES! I think the program is pretty well straight forward. If you
need help once inside the program, press F1, that's all. If it's help
with the ALT-Key combinations, just press ALT-H and a help screen
will pop up for those. As I mentioned, the program is pretty straight
forward, and online help is given in all the places I could think
possible.
PEOPLE I WANT TO THANK:
Anthony De Zilva, SysOp of The Dark Cavern BBS.
Tim Strike (Riim), SysOp of Forbidden Knights BBS.
My Parents, for not practicing birth control.
Thats all, no one else......
