  5.         Welcome to the Home Inventory Record Keeper!
  6.  
  7.         It's not dramatic, but it is a handy way of keeping track of 
  8.         everything you have in your house.  You can, of course, give a 
  9.         location for everything, and indicate the actual or estimated 
  10.         value of each item.
  11.  
  12.         We haven't included a manual on the disk, because we truly 
  13.         feel that you won't need one.  If you need help at any time, 
  14.         just press the F1 key and you'll see a context-sensitive help 
  15.         screen.  If you really have a problem, call us at either of 
  16.         the numbers listed below, leave a message, and we'll get back 
  17.         to you as soon as we can.

  19.         We also haven't included an installation procedure.  Set up a 
  20.         directory, load all the software into it using the DOS copy 
  21.         command, and type HOMEINV <ENTER> to run it.  (For the novices 
  22.         among you, <ENTER> means to press the key marked either ENTER, 
  23.         RETURN or with a backward-pointing arrow.)

  25.         This program is being distributed as shareware.  This means 
  26.         that you are free to use it on any number of computers, make 
  27.         copies and distribute them to your friends, and upload it to 
  28.         bulletin boards.  Please note that this is NOT public domain 
  29.         software - we own the copyright.  If you find the program 
  30.         useful, we'd appreciate a contribution of $25.  This will 
  31.         bring the following benefits:

  34.                 2. You'll help support more quality software
  35.                 3. You may feel that you've done a good deed
  36.  
  37.         Seriously, we're hard at work on a much more comprehensive 
  38.         version of this program.  We'll probably sell it as commercial 
  39.         software, complete with a manual.  We promise that it won't 
  40.         be memory-resident, and it won't include a notepad, a phone 
  41.         directory, an appointment calendar or an ASCII chart.  It'll 
  42.         cost less than $30.  We'll notify anyone who's registered with 
  43.         us when the new version is ready (probably in late fall of 
  44.         1989).  Even if you don't wish to register, we'd appreciate 
  45.         your comments so we can make our products as helpful, 
  46.         responsive and easy-to-use as possible.
