Welcome, to another issue of CTM. The first issue was hailed as a
big hit, which pleased me. I do try to write with the novice in mind. Some
of you more technical people may find mundane explanations a bit boring. I
have pored over many a computer magazine. Of all Byte is a good magazine.
It is also a highly technical magazine.
I try to write to the person who does not know a bit from a
byte. As the months progress we will add and delete things from the
magazine. These will be according to response from you, the reader. I have
put it a Q & A column this month. Many time people ask what the different
types of memory are. I explain it. Each month I will try to include several
Q&A's.
I had the pleasure of going to Carnegie Hall in June. It was for
the unveiling of a computer sound card. A truly moving experience. Read my
article on it, in this issue.
We have also covered the price break. Is this good or bad for the
consumer? Is this the time to buy? Check out my editorial.
This month I have also included three more new features. The first
is 'Coming Soon,' and it contains a partial list of software or hardware we
will be writing about in the coming months.
The other is System Information. I had one reader complain that he
uses Norton Desktop for Windows 2.0 (see review this issue), and it STILL
runs slowly on his system. He only has 2 MB RAM on his system. So I decided
to show you what I have. Unless otherwise stated, ALL reviews are done on
this system. Check out System Info.
The third is a list of the boards that I call, where CTM is. Have
you read about software that you would like to know more about? You can
contact me through one of the boards that I have listed in Where can I get
CTM? While CTM is on more boards than I list, these are the ones I call to
check for messages.
There are eight reviews this month, which should please almost
everyone. I have a game (Where is Carmen Sandiego?), several DOS
applications, and several Windows applications.
Until next month I hope that you have no bad sectors in your life!
