  23.     Squid is a high-performance proxy caching server for web clients,
  24.     supporting FTP, gopher, and HTTP data objects. Unlike traditional
  25.     caching software, Squid handles all requests in a single,
  26.     non-blocking, I/O-driven process. Squid supports SSL, extensive
  27.     access controls, and full request logging. By using the
  28.     lightweight Internet Cache Protocol, Squid caches can be arranged
  29.     in a hierarchy or mesh for additional bandwidth savings.

  31.     Squid is distrubted only in source form, and requires an ANSI C
  32.     compiler to build. A mailing list of Squid users exists to
  33.     exchange ideas and discuss problems. Please see the Squid home

  37.     ARPA-funded Harvest research project, which can be found at
