  4.                            SprintNet Logon Instructions

  8. When accessing GEnie via SprintNet, you will incur a $2.00 per connect
  9. hour communications surcharge.  This surcharge applies to all GEnie
  10. usage, including your first four hours.  PLEASE NOTE:  If you are
  11. dialing long-distance to access GEnie, we do not recommend dialing a
  12. surcharged access number, as you will incur the $2.00 per connect hour
  13. surcharge in addition to long-distance charges.  Also note, interstate
  14. long-distance calls are usually less expensive than intrastate long-
  15. distance calls.  Please contact your local telephone company to verify
  16. the long-distance charges.

  20.                     *Optional* Local Error Protection
  21.                    ------------------------------------
  22. The 2400 baud access numbers will allow MNP connections up to level 3.
  23. When using local error protection for speeds of 2400 bps or less, your
  24. modem must be MNP compatible, or you can use MNP compatible software
  25. in your PC. Note:  Dial the 2400 bps access number when using local
  26. error protection at 300, 1200 or 2400 bps.

  32.                      <CR> = CARRIAGE RETURN or ENTER key

  35. 300/1200 Baud Access:

  38. 1.  Have your modem dial a SprintNet access number.    
  39.     
  40. 2.  When you see the CONNECT message, enter a CARRIAGE RETURN <CR> or
  41.     ENTER key.
  42.     
  43. 3.  Type H<CR>  (Note: the H *MUST* be upper-case).  
  44.             
  45.     If the software you are using is set for 7 data bits, even parity
  46.     and 1 stop bit, type a semicolon (;) and a carriage return.   For
  47.     example: ;<CR>
  48.                       
  49. 4.  When you see the TERMINAL= prompt, type:  D1<CR>
  50.     
  51. 5.  When you see the @, type:  C GENIE<CR> (Note: there must be a
  52.     space between the C and the word GEnie)
  53.     
  54. 6.  When the U#= prompt appears, type your GEnie User ID#, a comma (,)
  55.     and your password.

  57. Following is an example of a 1200 baud SprintNet Connection:

  110. 1.  Type BYE<CR> at any GEnie menu prompt.

  112. 2.  After the GEnie signoff message, SprintNet sends an @.  
  113.     Type: HANGUP<CR>

  130. When accessing GEnie via SprintNet from Alaska, you must set the
  131. communication parameters to 7 data bits, even parity and 1 stop bit.
  132. PLEASE NOTE:  Once you are connected to GEnie, be sure to revert the
  133. parameters to 8 data bits, no parity and 1 stop bit if you intend to
  134. transfer files.
