Ashley is a new Type 1 Postscript font that mimics a sophisticated, probably female, print handwriting. Itàs wonderful for adding realistic annotations to documents, or making ¼handwritten½ memos. Rotating the annotations slightly and putting them in another color maximizes the effect. It prints well in its normal style, and when ¼oblique½ and ¼heavy½ (Postscriptàs synthetic Italic and Bold±just select Italic and/or Bold from the menu and it should come out OK).
You are welcome to install Ashley, just drag the files Ashle and Ashley.AFM into your System folder, and use the Font/DA mover (or Suitcase II etc.) to install the file Ashley.bitmap into your system file. Take a look at it, write a personalized memo to yourself, print some out...You can even imagine your secretary writing like this (great for those who donàt have a secretary, but wished they did!).
To save downloading time, Iàve only included 24 point bitmap. If you have ATM, Ashley should look nice at most sizes. If you have a LaserWriter or other Postscript Printer, your printouts should look great, provided youàve installed Ashley properly and arenàt printing a PICT version (like the sample at the top of this document). For those of you needing more bitmap sizes, they are available, as well as foreign/special charaters and EPS art for customization.
Ashley is being distributed as SHAREWARE. This allows you to try it out before you decide whether itàs worth keeping. If you keep it and use it, The Author (thatàs me) requests that you pay him $10 by check or money order in US funds. If you are using it for commercial purposes, please pay $25. When I receive and cash your check, you are granted a license to use Ashley (the Author maintains the copyright). If you donàt like it, or donàt feel itàs worth $10 to you, drag it into the trash, or let your friends & associates take a look instead.
You are free to distribute & upload Ashley, provided that you keep all of these files (Especially this one!) TOGETHER and ABSOLUTELY UNALTERED. Please donàt sell Ashley or use it as an incentive to sell something else.
If you feel too lazy/cheap/busy to send me a check, imagine how long it takes to make and refine a typeface, drawn completely de novo (i.e. without another font serving as a template). Think how much you would have paid for a font like this retail. The more people respond favorably, the more incentive Iàll have to make new and better typefaces, and support the ones Iàve made...the shareware concept makes computing better for all of us.
