APPLICATION FUNCTION:
soundCheck is a handy app that allows the changing or viewing of the
current system sound settings. This prevents the frustration of not
knowing whether or not the speaker has been muted or what the current
volume setting is set to. It also allows you to play sound files (.snd
and .au) by drag-n-drop on soundCheck's app icon.
This app may be started from a file viewer or be placed on the dock,
where it is the most useful. You may adjust the volume with soundCheck's
control panel or with the appropriate keys on the keyboard. Muting is
done with either method as well.
The ability to set the left to right balance of the audio is unique, but
note that this sets the balance value for the headphone output, not the line
level outputs. Mute only effects the local speaker and not the line outs or
the headphones.

This application was developed on a NeXTSTEP 2.1 based color station.
