Titrate allows students to simulate acid/base titrations. The student can choose an acid, a base, and an indicator, and can set the amounts and concentrations of the acid and base solutions. As the simulation is run, an animation is displayed and the pH is continuously plotted on a graph. Graphs from several titrations can be superimposed, making it easy to examine the effects of changing parameters such as the strengths of the acid and base and the initial concentrations. The pH data can also be copied and pasted into Lotus Improv for further analysis.
Titrate is used in introductory chemistry courses at Allegheny College.
