\
Q: What is APPPATH, referenced in the System Reference Manual?\
How do I modify the path used by the Workspace Manager?\
\
A: The documentation seems to imply that APPPATH is an environment\
variable which is used if ApplicationPaths is not set in the defaults\
database. Actually, APPPATH is a #define in the Workspace Manager's\
source code; it defines the default ApplicationPaths value. There\
is no way for a user to change APPPATH; the online 1.0 documentation\
is wrong.\
\
In order to modify the path that the Workspace Manager uses,
\f2 dwrite
\f0 (1)\
a new value for the Workspace's default named ApplicationPaths.\
For example, to add a departmental Apps directory to its search path, use\
\
\f2 dwrite Workspace ApplicationPaths \\\
\pard\tx620\tx1920\tx2880\tx3840\tx4800\tx5760\tx6720\tx7680\tx8640\tx9600 ~/Apps:/
\i department
\i0 /Apps:/LocalApps:/NextApps:/NextDeveloper/Demos\
\pard\tx960\tx1920\tx2880\tx3840\tx4800\tx5760\tx6720\tx7680\tx8640\tx9600\f0 \
Replace
\f2\i /department
\f0\i0 with the appropriate path to the departmental\
Apps directory. (In this case, we're assuming that the user in\
question is not a developer, but that the demos stuff is still fun\
to have.)\
