The Mapper application is an application that draws the map of the Earth
using different projection type (13 types of projections are provided
in this version). User can also colorize the map with any desired color.
Furthermore, not only a hardware copy can be obtained but user can also
save their generated maps as TIFF format data file and create their own movie
(by using any PD software which support TIFF files as input).
This application is an excellent example (maybe a boring and very demanding
exercise) for students who are taking computer graphics classes. Furthermore,
it can be used to help students to be more familiar with geographical locations
of continent.
This application is a shareware. Feel free to distribute it as long as
credits are given where they are due. Users who like this application are
encouraged to be a registered user (for more detail see the "Registration"
topic in the help section of the application).
Two data files are included:
1) World.map - a subset of the data for the map of the Earth.
2) Deluxe.map - the whole data set for the map of the Earth.
Since file (1) has less data than file (2). Thus, the time needed to
draw (1) is less than the one needed for (2). For a quick demo, I suggest
users to use the file (1) and for completeness use file (2).
