You have 16K of text buffer from #24575 to #40959.
"csr" is current position of cursor in text buffer.
"eof" is furthest position reached by cursor in text, or end of the file.
"ins" shows whether you are in insert mode or not. '0' means you are not in insert mode, '1' means you are. If you are, you are not seeing all of the text on screen.
"hme" shows the depth of the 'home stack'. '0' is always the default for the start of text, and [HME] will home screen and cursor here. You can define up to ten 'homes' anywhere in text by [F1] [h].
[F1] is the command key. [F1] gets you the "command" menu -
"command f/s/h/u/d/r/i/b?"
[f] go to "file" menu.
[s] "scroll", alter screen scroll value.
[h] push home stack with location of current screen address.
[u] scroll screen up through text by number of lines defined by scroll value.
[d] scroll screen down by scroll value.
[r] reformat or word-wrap entire file from text start to EOF.
[i] toggle insert mode.
[b] go to "block" menu.
The "file" menu -
"file l/a/s/d/e/v/c/n/o?"
[l] load and replace text with file selected from a disk directory list.
[a] append text in memory with a file selected from a directory list.
[s] "save as"; save text using current file name. If there is none as yet you will have to enter it after "save as ".
[d] dump current screen to disk as a machine code PRG file. Will always ask for a special name. Can't be reloaded,
or accessed as a normal text file.
[e] erase file on disk by selection from directory list.
[v] just view disk directory list for contents and disk name.
The directory listing function allows three additional single key commands while in use: 's', to stop the fetching and printing of filenames on screen and go straight to file selection; 'm' to get a fresh screen of filenames if fetching ceases and more files exist; and 'x', cancel a load operation called on by mistake.
[c] clear text and re-initialise QUIKWORD (re-run).
[n] enter/change file name for current text.
[o] other - change to other disk drive (if device 8 then toggle to device 9 (and vice versa).
The "block" menu -
"block s/e/c/m/d/f?"
[s] define block start.
[e] define block end.
[c] copy defined block to cursor position.
[m] move defined block to cursor position.
[d] delete defined block.
[f] file defined block onto disk as a text file. Will always ask for a special name.
[F3] gets you the (extra) "text" menu -
"text t/w/c/s/e/f/r/n/p/l?"
[t] transpose two characters.
[w] delete word from cursor to next word including space.
[c] change case of character under cursor; moves to next character.
[s] go to start of text.
[e] go to end of text (EOF).
[f] "find"; enter text to search following "find ". Cannot find text if a 'hard' or 'soft' return is interposed between words in buffer. Also matches combinations of upper and lower case characters to text.
[r] reset and clear "find" input.
[n] go to next word.
[p] go to previous word.
[l] delete line from cursor to end of the screen line including 'hard' or 'soft' return.
Use 'x' at any time to abort a menu.
[F7] toggles electronic CAPS LOCK mode. When CAPS LOCK is active all alphabetic characters ONLY will be converted to upper-case without using SHIFT. All other characters including punctuation, numerals etc. can be selected with SHIFT and UNSHIFT as normal, while alpha characters remain in caps. Using SHIFT for alpha characters produces no change. CAPS LOCK is toggled off by again [F7].
Also available: CTRL N - fast skip to next word; CTRL P - fast skip to previous word. Works even if a 'soft' or 'hard' return between words.
