Survival    3D Control Center    3C Control Center is a small application which allows you to easily use multiple Direct3D accelerator cards in one system at the same time. It places a "3D" icon the taskbar which quickly allows you to select which accelerator card you want to use for Direct3D acceleration. System    DirectX 5.2 Runtime    DirectX 5.2 allows games to bypass Windows 95 and talk directly to hardware such as your video and sound cards.  It is required by a large number of games.  The only thing different in the 5.2 release is Setup portion to better detect cards - no new drivers have been added. System    DirectX Control Panel    A DirectX utility you can't boot without!  Remember Alex St. John's column about broken DirectX drivers?  Well, DirectX 5 ships with a little control panel utility that lets you know who's at fault when your games crash and what features and video modes your hardware support. The utility even allows you to uninstall the new DirectX drivers if you've determined they've screwed up your system.  Just above the DirectX minimal install is a slightly larger version of DirectX that includes this new utility. All hardcore gamers are strongly advised to install this utility along with DirectX 5.0. This applet doesn't ship with the minimal DirectX install, but we've included it on this month's bootDisc. System    USB Support Patch    In order to install Universal Serial Bus support on a PC, Windows 95 version 950B must be running. This can be determined by checking the version of Windows by right clicking on "My Computer" and selecting properties. The general tab will show the Windows version.
