  1. There are four mailing lists for discussion of the Debian Linux system.
  2. They are:

  4.     debian-announce@lists.debian.org  General announcements. Moderated.
  5.  
  6.     debian-changes@lists.debian.org   Announcements of new versions of Debian
  7.                                       packages.  Unmoderated.
  8.  
  9.     debian-user@lists.debian.org      User discussion, and user questions to
  10.                                       developers.  Unmoderated.
  11.  
  12.     debian-devel@lists.debian.org     Developer-to-developer discussion.
  13.                                       Restricted membership.
  14.  
  15. If you have a World Wide Web browser such as Mosaic or Netscape, you can
  16. subscribe to debian-announce, debian-changes, and debian-user by using
  17. the WWW form `http://www.rahul.net/perens/Debian/MailingLists.html'. You
  18. can also unsubscribe using that form.

  20. TO SUBSCRIBE by E-MAIL:

  22.     debian-announce    Send mail to debian-announce-REQUEST@lists.debian.org
  23.                        with the word "subscribe" in the message body.

  25.     debian-changes     Send mail to debian-changes-REQUEST@lists.debian.org
  26.                        with the word "subscribe" in the message body.

  28.     debian-user        Send mail to debian-user-REQUEST@lists.debian.org
  29.                        with the word "subscribe" in the message body.

  31.     debian-devel       Send mail to Bruce@Pixar.com with a one-line
  32.                        explanation of what you want to develop or test.

  34. TO UNSUBSCRIBE
  35.  
  36. Send mail to the corresponding -REQUEST address with the word "unsubscribe"
  37. in the message body.

  39. MAILING LIST ADVERTISING POLICY
  40.  
  41. This policy is intended to fight mailing-list "spamming".
  42.  
  43. The Debian Linux mailing lists accept commercial advertising for
  44. payment. We offer a fee waiver if you can show us the cancelled check
  45. for a $1000 (U.S.) or more donation to the Free Software Foundation
  46. earmarked for "Debian". One donation per advertisement, please. If you
  47. don't wish to donate, simply post your advertisement to the list, and
  48. the operator of the mailing lists will bill $1999 (U.S). The list
  49. operator will donate this amount, minus the expense of collecting it,
  50. to FSF. Please note that the lists are distributed automaticaly - messages
  51. are generally not read or checked in any way before they are distributed.

  53. By the act of posting your advertisement you agree to accept
  54. responsibility for the fee, you agree to indemnify the mailing-list
  55. operator against any legal claims from you or others in connection with
  56. your advertisement, and you agree to pay any legal and business
  57. expenses incurred in collecting late payment. Our liability to you is
  58. limited to a good-faith effort to deliver your message.

  60. Reduced rates and/or waiver of fee are available for Debian-related
  61. advertisements. You must consult the mailing-list operator in advance
  62. of posting for any reduction or fee waiver.
