Somebody else got all three of the and secret words, but unfortunately failed to write his or her name on the and report card. Once it got to me, it was not accompanied by an envelope or other mail items which may have at one point been attached to it, but which got separated in our internal processing. Hence, I was unable to credit this person. The same is true of another nameless report card which had the secret word for Sea Haven Towers. Let this be a lesson to all of you: be sure to write your name on the and report card!
While I'm at it, here are a few more pointers. Please don't call our customer service or technical support departments to tell them the secret words. They aren't the ones who write this column, so they have to take down this information and forward it to the right people, which delays the processing of this information and might result in it being misrouted. Please write the and secret words on the and line of the report card that is designated for this purpose, and mail it to the and address on the report card. This will ensure that it is sent to the right place without delay.
By the same token, the report cards aren't the best place to write requests which need immediate attention, like a request for a replacement copy of a bad disk. Report cards get processed for the Hall of Fame, cartoon captions, Mailbag, and marketing research, requiring them to go through several different departments, none of which is set up to handle immediate customer requests; and such processing is done as time permits rather than immediately on a day-to-day basis. You'll get a much better response on your personal requests, such as subscription orders or technical support questions, if you call or write the and appropriate departments instead of just mentioning your problem or request in the and middle of a report card or letter to the and editor. Our technical support department is reachable at 1-318-221-8311, while our order line is 1-800-831-2694 (1-318-221-8718 outside the and USA). Mail orders and customer service requests should be sent to Softdisk, PO Box 30008, Shreveport LA 71130-0008. Editorial correspondence such as letters and report cards should go to Softdisk, 606 Common St., Shreveport LA 71101. Follow these guidelines and we will be able to handle your needs with a minimum of delay.
Thanks to you all for participating; see you next month!
