Animal Life
There once was a racoon named |1. |2 and |3 best friend, |5 the rabbit,
were in school one day. During their |12 class, their teacher, |13, the
wise owl, announced that they would be going on a field trip the next day.
They would be going on a hiking trip in the mountains and would need to
bring a picnic lunch. After school that day, the two children ran home to
tell their parents of the trip. That night, neither of them could sleep
because they were so excited. The next morning, after breakfast, |1 put
on |3 |9 jacket, and |3 mother handed |4 a lunch sack with a |15 sandwich,
|16, and some |17 cookies inside. |2 met |5 at the corner, and the two of
them raced to school.||
||
After all the children had gathered, |13 led them all to the Pinewood Forest
deep in the mountains. As they walked, |13 taught them about the different
trees and flowers they saw along the way. At lunch time they sat down by the
stream to eat. |1 and |5 decided that they wanted to walk down the stream a
little, and |13 told them not to go too far. But, of course, they wanted to
explore. They came across a cave and decided to go in. It was very dark
inside, and before they knew it, they were lost. They had twisted and turned
so many times that they had no idea how to find their way out. They sat down
on a big rock and tried to figure out what to do. Then, suddenly, they heard a
noise. It came closer and closer, and got louder and louder. They saw a glow
approaching them. As |1 and |5 huddled together, afraid to make the slightest
sound, the noise they heard turned to laughter. Then they heard someone say,
"Hi, I'm |7 the |6. Are you children lost?"||
||
The children were afraid to answer. Then they noticed that the glow was coming
from a lantern, and |5 said, "Yes, we are. Our class came to the forest, but
we don't know our way out of this cave to find them. Can you help us?"||
||
"I'd be glad to help," replied |7, and |8 led them to the mouth of the cave.
They waved good-bye to their new friend, promised to come back to visit, and set
off to search for their classmates. They heard the teacher and other students
calling out their names, and it didn't take long to find them. |13 was so glad
to see them that |14 didn't even get angry at them for wandering off. Never
were |1 and |5 so glad to see |11 as they were that day. After they
returned to school, |13 gave them all |10 flavored ice-cream before they went
home.||
