The JOANELLE font is a TrueType font.  (TrueType is a trademark of Apple Computer and Microsoft.)  TrueType fonts are designed for use with Windows, but many new DOS programs can support them as well.  If you want to use Joanelle with Windows, see the section titled "Installing TrueType Fonts" below.  If you can use TrueType fonts with any other program, you will have to check your program's manuals to learn how to use them.

  7. To view the character set of the Joanelle font, simply press the "VIEW" button at the bottom of this window.

  9. INSTALLING TRUETYPE FONTS

  11. These instructions assume you have maintained the standard Windows setup.  If you have done anything unusual with your directory names, then you will have to adjust for the changes yourself.

  13. STEP 1:  Copy the file "JOANELLE.TTF" into your "SYSTEM" directory.  The SYSTEM directory is located within your "WINDOWS" directory, so it should not be hard to find.  On a typical system the path to locate the SYSTEM directory is:
  14.    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM

  16. STEP 2:  Launch Windows.  (If you are already running Windows, make sure you have closed all running programs.  Fonts added to the system may not show in programs that were left running while the font was installed.)

  18. STEP 3:  Locate and open the "Main" Program group from the Program Manager's window by double-clicking on it.  You will see several icons.

  20. STEP 4:  Locate and open the "Control Panel" icon by double-clicking on it.  This window will also contain several icons.

  22. STEP 5:  Locate and open the "Fonts" icon by double-clicking on it.  This will open a window showing which fonts you have access to and which are installed.  There are several buttons located along the right side of the window.  The important one for you to locate is the "ADD" button.

  24. STEP 6:  Press the "ADD" button.

STEP 7:  Use the scroll bar, if necessary, to locate the "JOANELLE" font in the "List of Fonts."  Click on the "JOANELLE" font to select it, then click on the "OK" button.  The Joanelle font should now appear in your menu lists for your Windows programs.  Remember, if you left any program running during this installation procedure, that program may not see the Joanelle font until you quit and restart it.
