  6. Dear On Disk Monthly subscriber:

  8. You know what you want...and you're not shy about telling
  9. us. That's great! Really. Otherwise, we might not produce a
  10. monthly product that meets your needs...and you wouldn't
  11. renew. So thanks for all of your past comments and for your
  12. participation in the graphics survey you'll find at the end
  13. of this letter.

  15. Why are we asking you to participate in a graphics survey?
  16.  
  17. First, we need some meaningful subscriber statistics on
  18. graphics. Your graphics capabilities determine which ideas
  19. we'll develop or shelve and what products we'll try to sell
  20. to you in the Marketplace.
  21.  
  22. Second, a number of you have requested an increase in the
  23. graphics resolution of our menu and programs (to hi-res EGA
  24. or VGA). While others have indicated that you would prefer
  25. lower resolution (CGA four-color or text mode) versions of
  26. our menu and our programs to the high resolution CGA (black
  27. and white) graphics you often receive now.
  28.  
  29. And third, we recently have been considering increasing our
  30. minimum graphics requirement--perhaps to EGA or VGA.
  31. Unfortunately, this would mean that subscribers with CGA
  32. computers would have to upgrade their computers in order to
  33. run our graphics programs.
  34.  
  35. Why consider changing On Disk Monthly at all? For two
  36. reasons: 1) A subscriber survey on issue #66 indicated that
  37. over 80 percent of our current subscribers already have VGA
  38. or better graphics; and 2) The majority of today's IBM-PC
  39. and 100% compatible computer owners--all potential On Disk
  40. Monthly subscribers--also have VGA or better graphics.

  42. Your responses to the survey below will help us make some
  43. vital decisions. That's why it's very important for you to
  44. take time to complete, then mail or fax it to us.
