EDITOR'S CORNER
If you're a new ON DISK MONTHLY subscriber, I bid you
welcome and urge you to take the time necessary to savor
every morsel of this issue. If you're a long-time
subscriber, you've already discovered that this issue is
different in three major ways from recent issues.
First, you must have noticed a new interface that is more
attractive and easier to use. It also takes up a lot less
disk space. Second, the number of programs has been
increased--one of which is a byte-sized monthly feature
called Word-Up. Third, the program content mix has been
updated and expanded to reflect the needs of the
contemporary computer user--i.e., a mix of useful,
informational and fun programs which relate to current
events and technology levels. And fourth, we've added a few
special offers that will appear one at a time when you quit
from the programs. These offers will cycle through once each
time you boot up. We hope you take advantage of these
special On Disk Monthly offers, but you may prefer to press
Esc to "ignore" them.
Why change ON DISK MONTHLY now? Because we felt that the
beginning of spring was the perfect time to "spruce up" our
PC product by redoing the interface and revisiting our
content mix. Translation: because we wanted to--and because
your letters indicated that you wanted it, too.
Don't stop writing! Let us know what you think of this
issue by printing, filling out and mailing the on-disk
"Report Card" (accessible from the Departments pick list).
I'm looking forward to hearing from you!
Finally, here is a sampling of the programs scheduled to
appear on the next issue of On Disk Monthly: Brain Buster,
an intelligence quiz that will challenge everyone; Loan
Accelerator, a program that will help you pay off your loans
more quickly and efficiently; My Little Black Book, a handy
computer address book; Lotto Luck, a lotto game that shows
you what your odds of winning really are; Square One, a
thinking person's numerical maze game; and much, much more!
Happy computing,
Ronda Faries
