ROCK & SCROLL is a new strategy game in which each player tries to outwit
the other and be the first to get one of his playing pieces through the game
area.
Rocks fall when an opening appears below them and balloons rise when one
appears above.
When it's your turn to play, you choose to scroll the walls or the rocks
and balloons to maneuver your way through the game area before your opponent.
Play against the computer or with a human opponent. Be on your toes,
however. If the computer starts to win, it may start to toy with you.
The game begins in a human vs. computer mode. The computer is set to its
simplest setting. Your job is to get a rock to the bottom, while the computer
is doing its best to stop you and get a balloon to the top. To play just
enter a number from 1 to 9 or click in on one of the arrows.
The row on the screen will SCROLL in the direction pointed to by the arrow.
If an opening lines up, rocks and balloons will move. If one of these pieces
makes it all the way through, we have a winner!
Every time a player wins, he loses a piece. That makes it a little easier
for the loser next time.
^CGood luck!
If you are using a mouse, the cursor on the screen looks like a small
balloon. Place it on the arrow next to the row you want to move or place it
over your menu choice. Click and release to activate. You can use the mouse
to answer yes and no as well. The left button is yes, the right is clicked
for no.
^CImportant keys:
<F1> Displays the rules.
<F2> Activates a drop down menu that lets you adjust the
players in the game. Current choices are indicated by
an asterisk. Move the highlight using the mouse
or the arrow keys to your choice and press 'ENTER'. or
click on the left button. Cancel by pressing the right
button or the 'ESC' key. Lock in one choice with the
SPACE bar, then select the opponent.
The game begins in a human player (hey, that's you!) vs.
the least "intelligent" computer. Choose a smarter computer
and it will be displayed. The smarter the computer,
the longer it thinks before it makes a move.
<F3> Toggles the sound on and off.
<F4> Start the game over or take back the last move. NOTE: If
you are playing against a computer, you'll probably want
to take back two moves at a time. If you only take back
the computer's last move, it will immediately set out to
make another.
<ESC> Asks if you really want to quit.
<mouse left> Make a choice, answer yes
<mouse right> Answer no, ESC out of open menu
