^1DaysTil^0 is a handy little utility for reporting the number of days
since an event occurred or until an event is to occur. The program can be
used to help remind you of significant dates like birthdays, anniversaries,
and holidays. Just select the date, provide a description, and include the
command DaysTil in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file and you will never forget another
important date!
^1Setting DaysTil Event Date and Description^0
DaysTil allows you to set both an Event Date and Event Description. From
the DOS prompt, type: ^1DAYSTIL change
Once the program has loaded, the screen is cleared and the Date/Description
entry screen is displayed with a highlight box positioned on the Date field.
The Date field is made of three items: Month, Day, and Year. Use the <LEFT>
and <RIGHT> arrow keys to select one of these items. The <UP> and <DOWN>
arrow keys are used to increase or decrease the value of the currently
selected item. Press <ENTER> to switch from one field to the other. When
the highlight box is positioned on the Description field, you can input a
short description of the event. Press <F10> and the current event date and
description are saved. Press <ESC> to cancel without saving your changes.
^1Running DaysTil^0
When you run DaysTil, a message with your description and the number of days
from the event date, is displayed. For example, you might receive one of the
following messages:
^CThere are 9 more days until my vacation starts!
^CIt has been 5 days since I quit eating chocolate.
^1Enhanced Feature^0
DaysTil uses a technique of updating any changes you make to either the
Description or the Date directly to the DAYSTIL.EXE file on disk. What this
means is that you are limited to one DaysTil message per executable file. You
may think that you could copy DAYSTIL.EXE to DAYSTIL2.EXE and thus create a
second message. This approach is fine so long as you are running DOS
version 3.0 or greater.
^1Outside BBD^0
To run this program outside ^1Big Blue Disk^0, type: ^1DAYSTIL^0.
