  7. Dear Brothers and Sisters Assalam-o-Alaikum:

  9.  I received the following from some source a long time back. I am
  10. posting it for the benefit of brothers and sisters.

  17.                  THE LAST SERMON OF THE PROPHET (PBUH)
  18.                  -------------------------------------
  19.  
  20. The Prophet Muhammad's (SallahoAlaihWaaleWassallam-SWW) Last Sermon
  21.  
  22. This sermon was delivered on the Ninth Day of Dhul-Hijjah 10 A.H. in the
  23. 'Uranah valley of Mount Arafat' in Makkah.
  24.  
  25. After praising, and thanking Allah he said:
  26.  
  27. "O People lend me an attentive ear, for I know not whether after this year
  28. I shall ever be amongst you again.  Therefore listen to what I am saying
  29. very carefully and TAKE THESE WORDS TO THOSE WHO COULD NOT BE PRESENT HERE
  30. TODAY.
  31.  
  32. O People just as you regard this month, this day, this city as Sacred, so
  33. regard the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust.  Return the
  34. goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners.  Hurt no one so that no one
  35. may hurt you.  Remember that you will indeed meet your LORD, and that he will
  36. indeed reckon your deeds.  ALLAH has forbidden you to take usuary (interest),
  37. therefore all interest obligations shall henceforth be waived.  Your capital
  38. is yours to keep.  You will neither inflict nor suffer any inequity.  Allah
  39. has Judged that there shall be no interest and that all the interest due to
  40. Abbas ibn 'Abd'al Muttalib (Prophet's uncle) be waived.

  42. Every right arising out of homicide in pre-islamic days is henceforth waived
  43. and the first such right that i waive is that arising from the murder of Rabiah
  44. ibn al Harithibn.
  45.  
  46. O'Men, the Unbelievers indulge in tampering with the calender in order to
  47. make permissible that which Allah forbade, and to permit which Allah has 
  48. made permissible.  With Allah the months are twelve in number. Four of them
  49. are holy three of these are successive and one occurs singly between the 
  50. months of Jumada and Shaban.
  51.  
  52. Beware of Satan, for the safety of your religion.  He has lost all hope of
  53. that he will be able to lead you astray in big things, so beware of 
  54. following him in small things.
  55.  
  56. O People it is true that you have certain rights with regard to your women
  57. but they also have right over you.  Remember that you have taken them as
  58. your wives only under Allah's trust and with his permission.  If they abide
  59. by your right then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in
  60. kindness.  Do treat your women well and be kind to them for they are your
  61. partners and committed helpers.  And it is your right that they do not make
  62. friends with anyone of whom you do not approve, as well as never to be
  63. unchaste.

  65. O People, listen to me in ernest, worship ALLAH, say your five daily prayers
  66. fast during month of Ramadan, and give your wealth in Zakat.  Perform Hajj if
  67. you can afford to.
  68.  
  69. All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab 
  70. nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no
  71. superiorityover black nor a black has any superiority over white except by
  72. piety and good
  73. action.  Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the 
  74. Muslims constitute one brotherhood.  Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim
  75. which belogs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. 
  76. Do not therefore do injustice to yourselves.  Remember one day you will meet
  77. Allah and answer your deeds.  So beware do not astray from the path of
  78. righteousness after I am gone.
  79.  
  80. O People, NO PROPHET OR APOSTLE WILL COME AFTER ME AND NO NEW FAITH WILL BE
  81. BORN.  Reason well, therefore, O People, and understand words which I convey
  82. to you.  I leave behind me two things, the QURAN and my SUNNAH and if you
  83. follow these you will never go astray.

  85. All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to
  86. others again; and may the last ones understand my words better than those
  87. who listen to me directly.  Be my witness O ALLAH, that I have conveyed 
  88. your message to your people."
