Unfortunately, it is *very* illegal. Not only is Barney
copyrighted, he is probably (like most cartoon characters)
trademarked as well. The Outland strip is also copyrighted.
The Outland copyright protects the specific picture you
scanned, while the Barney trademark protects the odious
purple one from uses his (its?) owners find offensive.
'Course, the famous Fair Use Clause allows copyrighted
works to be duplicated for purposes of review, scholarship,
research, and so on. Maybe if you started calling yourself
the "International Association for the Study of Disgusting
Purple Phenomena". . . you might have a shot. Just a thought.
