Files matching "yymmNNI.ZIP" contain information gleaned from various
sources, mostly from Usenet newsgroups comp.ai.neural-nets, comp.archives,
and the Connectionists mailing list. "yy" indicates the year, "mm"
indicates the month. NNI stand for "neural network information", but
should always be interpreted as "artificial neural network information".
Some information from the Connectionists mailing list is tagged
"Do not forward to other groups". My policy is to save such messages
to /dev/null, but I might occasionally not see it, so my apologies if
your message to Connectionists only somehow manages to get archived in
one of these artificial neural network information compilations.
I split the incoming data into a few basic categories. These are marked
by the file extension.
ANC -- Announcements of conferences, meetings, books, commercial
software
BIB -- Bibliographic data on any subject
CFP -- Calls for [papers | proposals | participation]
DIS -- Discussions (at least, ones which *I* thought were
interesting. Your mileage may vary)
FTP -- Announcements of resources available via Internet ftp.
This usually means software packages of one sort or
another. Papers are labelled elsewhere.
JOB -- Announcements of positions, studentships, post-doc
opportunities.
PPR -- Announcements of papers, usually archived at an ftp site,
sometimes available via snail mail.
The filename convention is to name each composite file for the date upon
which I receive the information and the class into which that information
falls. For example, if I received two announcements of ANN simulators
available by ftp on April 2, 1993, those could be found in archive
9304NNI.ZIP in file 930402.FTP.
I will keep several of the latest of these compilations available for
download or File Request on the Central Neural System BBS (FidoNet
1:3407/2, 509-627-6267), in the ANNINFO file section.
I hope that these compilations of information prove helpful to you. To
send feedback, contact me as indicated below.
