  3. Welcome to CD Player for Windows 2.0, the Shareware Version!
  4.  
  5. We're sure you'll like this product.  Check the main computer magazines
  6. for product announcements about the retail version, and look at the
  7. Reviews item under the file menu, or in the About item under the 
  8. Help menu to see what the critics say about the app!
  9.  
  10. If you downloaded the bigger zip file, VBRUN200.DLL is included.  This
  11. file, if included in the zip has to be in your Windows system directory.
  12. Installation for all other files is the same and is described below.
  13.  
  14. All files should be installed in a single directory.  Make sure you put
  15. included .vbx files in the subdirectory you have created.  You can put
  16. the .vbx files in your windows\system directory, but be forewarned...
  17. these are are VB 2.0 files, and if you have VB 1.0 vbx files by the same
  18. name in the windows\system directory, you will overwrite those files, 
  19. which may disable VB 1.0 apps on your system that use these vbx files.

  21. INITIALLY, the True Type font "Arial", which is supplied with Windows 3.1,
  22. must be on your system, active and true type fonts must be enabled.

  24. Also included in the zip are two TrueType fonts.  These should be installed
  25. through the Control Panel, Fonts section.  Choose the Add button, direct
  26. the CP to the directory where you put the shareware version, select the two
  27. true type fonts, and click on "OK".

  29. In order to make CD Player 2.0 work, the Windows 3.1 [MCI] CDAUDIO driver
  30. MUST be installed in your Control Panel, Drivers section.  If this driver
  31. is not installed, here's how you do it...

  33. Go to the Control Panel, and choose the Drivers icon.  Choose the Add
  34. button, and select [MCI] CDAUDIO from the list, click on OK.  You will
  35. be prompted for the proper original Windows disk, and notified when the
  36. installation of this driver is complete.

  38. One last note...  The retail version is VERY different.  This shareware
  39. version, even if you buy the registration number, is not the same as the
  40. buying the retail version (also known as the complete version).  There's a 
  41. description of the differences, which you can see by choosing the 
  42. File menu in the app, then choosing the "Why Should I Buy the complete Package?"
  43. menu item.
