The lookup function will tell the user what year a
guitar is produced.
The tables included are as follows:
Model Path \ File
D'Angelico AXE\\DOCS\\DANGEL.DOC
D'Aquisto AXE\\DOCS\\DAQUISTO.DOC
Epiphone AXE\\DOCS\\EPIPHONE.DOC
Fender AXE\\DOCS\\FENDER.DOC
Gibson AXE\\DOCS\\GIBSON.DOC
Gretsch AXE\\DOCS\\GRETSCH.DOC
Guild AXE\\DOCS\\GUILD.DOC
Martin AXE\\DOCS\\MARTIN.DOC
National AXE\\DOCS\\NATIONAL.DOC
Ovation AXE\\DOCS\\OVATION.DOC
Rickenbacker AXE\\DOCS\\RICK.DOC
All serial prefixes must be entered in upper case.
Gibson is peculiar in that all pre-WWII serial
numbers must use a serial prefix of P. All others,
use what is valid or you will get an error message.
Please note many of the look-up functions require
serial # prefixes in addition to the actual number.
Eack look-up function has an on-screen listing of
valid prefix codes.
If you do not like the data, simply edit the doc
file for that manufacturer. It is the user's
responsibility to verify and update the data,
though the data should be reasonably accurate. Do
not rely on any information in this software to
guarantee the validity, or value of, a firearm.
This is merely a data engine to process any data
residing in the document file. The data is stored
in ascending order so some care must be exercised.
Each category MUST have a last year, delimited by
a serial number maximum value associated with it.
For example, a field XXXXX in length would list
the final year of production as having a serial
number of 99999. Look at GUN \ LOOKUP \ Win94.doc
as an example.
A (dangerous !) feature I have made available
is the ability for the user to interactively edit
the actual look-up text files, rather than just
read the data and return values. On the Lookup
menu, the last item is an Edit Mode Toggle. When
"√" is visible, the function simply opens the
text for editing purposes. The edit mode can
be toggled off by pressing <Enter> on the Edit
mode field or simply pressing "E", the hot key
for the toggle. Remember, the edit mode is live
and care must be exercised during this process.
Should a faux pas occur, simply hit <ESC> or F3
inside the editor - either will prevent the
file from being saved. See Edit Help for more
details.
