User: At the end of this file there is a note regarding what you should do
if you have any installation problems...please be sure and read!

ChronoLog Version 1.1 - QUICK INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
If you have a ChronoLog "master" diskette(s), one 3 1/2" or two 5 1/4"
floppy(s), the files are not compressed. There should be at least 15 files.
See the file PACKING.LST for a listing of the minimum files required. Do
not erase any of the system files!
This procedure works the same for a first-time installation, or an upgrade
(replacing an already installed version with a newer one).
Use the following procedure to install:
- Insert the 3 1/2" floppy or 5 1/4" floppy #1 (contains the
file CLINST.EXE) into a floppy drive.
- At the DOS prompt, type A:CLINST (or B:CLINST if that is the drive).
This runs the ChronoLog System Installation Program which will
create a subdirectory on your hard drive and copy the system files
into it. (If loading from 5 1/4" floppy, you will be prompted to
insert floppy #2.). CLINIT (the ChronoLog Database Initialization
Program) and then CHRONO will both execute automatically.
****
If you have the ChronoLog files compressed into a single file (the
file name should be CHRON110.xxx, where xxx is the compression
extension such as ZIP, or EXE if it is a self-extracting file),
use the following installation procedure:
- You do not need to run CLINST. Instead make sure that the
compressed file has been copied to the subdirectory on your
hard drive wherein you want the ChronoLog system files to reside.
- Decompress CHRON110.xxx. If the decompress is successful,
you may delete CHRON110.xxx.
- There should be at least 15 files when decompressed. See the
file PACKING.LST for a listing of the minimum files required.
- Type CLINIT (the ChronoLog Database Initialization Program) to
initialize a database in the subdirectory where the system files
reside. CHRONO will then execute automatically.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO IF YOU HAVE INSTALLATION PROBLEMS
The ChronoLog installation program, CLINST, is provided to assist the
novice DOS user. It is intended for use only when first installing the
system on your computer or upgrading to a newer version. You may bypass
CLINST by (1) MANUALLY CREATING A SUBDIRECTORY ON YOUR HARD DRIVE,
(2) COPYING ALL SYSTEM FILES INTO THE SUBDIRECTORY, (3) RUNNING CLINIT TO
INITIALIZE A DATABASE, and (4) RUNNING CHRONO.
IMPORTANT NOTE!!! If this is an evaluation copy of ChronoLog purchased from
a shareware disk distributor, and you experience any difficulty that you
cannot overcome, please do NOT contact the distributor to complain or ask
for a refund. This tends to cause deletions of shareware from catalogs,
and may be a problem that you and I can work out. So instead, contact
me at the above address or phone number, or via CompuServe or PRODIGY
(USERIDs are in the user's manual).
THANKS FOR SUPPORTING SHAREWARE!
