We lay together in bed - but not really together, we did not move for fear that we might touch. The thoughts, coldly floating in the air and space between us extinguished all fires that used to burn so fervently between my thighs, so I stared at her while her stares at me bore a hole into the night. We lay in bed together, thinking how could we continue together when we were close enough to the truth to realize that she should not have been in my life and especially not "my bed".
