  3. IS A MULTI-MEDIA MAGAZINE DEDICATED TO
  4. BRINGING YOU THE FIRST REAL DEMOCRACY IN AMERICA IN WHICH WE THE PEOPLE
  5. DECIDE THE MAJOR ISSUES AFFECTING THIS NATION EVERY DAY.

  7. INSTALLATION >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>  AUTOMATIC

  9. TYPE AT THE A>'GO' {FOR EACH DISK}
  10.  
  11. THIS WILL COPY THE FILES TO YOUR HARD DISK, UNCOMPRESS THEM AND GET THEM READY FOR THE FINAL SETUP UNDER WINDOWS 'FILE' - 'RUN'.

  13. SO, WHEN DONE -- RUN FILE - AND THEN 'RUN' FROM THE FILE MANAGER AND TYPE '\PX999ION\SETUP' AND THE PROGRAM WILL INSTALL AUTOMATICALLY.  If you have trouble with this for whatever reason, go to the manual installation which
  14. gives all the steps to install manually.

  16. If it does not install automatically, we find that this is due to the 
  17. following reasons.  1.  You are using a Desktop Manager that is not 
  18. compatible with SETUP.EXE.  If this is the case, run the Windows File
  19. Manager and then Run, the Setup program as above from withing Program
  20. Manager.  Then you should see our ICON come up in a Window.  Then, all
  21. you have to do is copy the properties of this ICON into your Desktop Manager
  22. and everything should run, nicely.  Then make a new Item with these
  23. properties.

  25.                    2.  Sometimes our distributors rearrange the way that
  26. we organized our files on disk.  We ask them to be very careful when doing
  27. this because the Installation of any Windows Program is very Finicky and 
  28. not fault tolerant and needs files to be found in the order given in the
  29. SETUP.INF file.  But if you feel that the distributor has rearranged things
  30. then all you have to do is the following manual installation.

  33. INSTALLATION  >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>   MANUAL

  35.    FIRST:  Copy all the diskettes you received to a subdir
  36.             on your hard drive called '\px999ion'. 
  37.

  39.             get to a DOS prompt and type 'MD\PX999ION'
  40.  
  41. THEN TYPE ...
  42.             C>'CD\PX999ION'
  43.             C>COPY A:*.* 
  44.  
  45. WHEN DONE:  TYPE 'PETITION' and the files will self-extract in this
  46. subdir.  
  47.  
  48. REPEAT THE PROCESS FOR DISK2, BUT instead of typing 'PETITION' at the end,
  49. type 'DISK2' and the second disk files will self extract.  When they are all
  50. self-extracted ....., go to Windows and pull down 'File',

  52. THEN - IN WINDOWS - PULL DOWN THE 'FILE' MENU
  53.  
  54.    LOOK DOWN AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS MENU AND CLICK ON ...  'RUN' COMMAND.

  56. A DIALOG BOX POPS UP ASKING YOU THE FILE NAME TO RUN.

  58.    TYPE IN THIS BOX '\px999ion\setup'
  59.  
  60. THAT'S ABOUT IT.  WINDOWS WILL AUTOMATICALLY INSTALL OUR PROGRAM.

  62. NOW, JUST CLICK ON THE ICON AND THE PROGRAM WILL RUN.

  64. IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS GETTING THE VIDEO CLIPS TO RUN ...

  68. YOU MUST INSTALL THE MULTI-MEDIA DRIVERS IF YOU WANT TO WATCH OUR FILM 
  69. CLIPS ON YOUR COMPUTER.  IF YOU HAVE WINDOWS VER 3.1, THIS MAY NOT BE 
  70. NECESSARY.  BUT WE FIND IN SOME CASES YOU HAVE TO DO THE FOLLOWING.

  72. 1.  GOTO the control panel
  73. 2.  Click on the 'Drivers' Icon
  74. 3.  Click on 'ADD' a driver.
  75. 4.  You will see a list of installed drivers.
  76. 5.  If you don't see 'MCI AUTODESK ANIMATION DRIVER' ...
  77.          You must click on 'UNLISTED' TO ADD THE DRIVER
  78. 6.  Fill in the dialog box with either 'C:\PETITION\mciaap.drv'
  79.       or the hard drive subdirectory where the files from disk1 & 2
  80.       were installed. example:  'C:\newdir\mciaap.drv'

  82.  This should debug the installation of this Multi-Media Magazine.
