  6.     Hayes has released Smartcom for Windows communications software.
  7.     Smartcom comes with dual-media, and requires approximately 4MB hard
  8.     disk space. It is a full-featured program designed to take full
  9.     advantage of the Windows environment.

  11.     Features include:

  13.     Smart Buttons. These allow users to keep common commands and
  14.     frequently used scripts available at the click of a button.
  15.  
  16.     Smartcom for Windows Scripting Language (SCOPE). It is an easy to
  17.     use scripting language that allows users to automate tasks and
  18.     create scripts. Using the LEARN mode even novices can create and
  19.     utilize scripts.

  21.     Smartcom for Windows Communications Editor. Provides most of the
  22.     features found in word processing software such as copy, cut, paste,
  23.     find, word-wrap and more. The Editor also combines ANSI.SYS
  24.     functionality so users can add color and graphic characters to the
  25.     text.

  27.     Smartcom has language support. These include: English, French,
  28.     German, Italian and Spanish. You can install more than one language
  29.     on a hard drive. Users  can switch quickly from one language to
  30.     another. This is ideal for multinational organizations, which gives
  31.     them the ability to standardize the software package that they use.
  32.     One package, many languages.

  34.     Smartcom for Windows supports all popular terminal emulations, eight
  35.     file transfer protocols, DDE support and background operations. It
  36.     also has context-sensitive help for both the communications program
  37.     and the editor.

  39.     As with Crosstalk, you must create a file for each number you call.
  40.     There is NO dialing directory. You either double-click on the
  41.     service you want to call, or use drag and drop. Either way, if one
  42.     is busy, you must stop it, and then start another.

  44.     It is specially designed for use with high-speed modems, ISDN, Hayes
  45.     ESP Communications Accelerator, local area networking, and
  46.     third-party TCP/IP internetworking.

  48.     I was more impressed with this package over  Crosstalk. However, as
  49.     with it, this package is NOT geared to a BBS user. This is also a
  50.     package designed for the corporate environment.
