Description..:
Back in July 1984, CNW #1385 (owned by Mid-
Continent Railway Museum) made an overnight lay over in
Janesville, WI. An old high school friend of mine worked for the
CNW so I got to photograph the early morning servicing. This
picture was taken next to the old roundhouse.
This locomotive is an R-1 Class, 4-6-0, built in
1907 by the American Locomotive Company at Schenectady, NY. It
saw service on both a freight and passenger trains. In the late
1950's she saw service in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. It was
serviced at Stambaugh, at Ishpeming, and at Escanaba.
