Parkinson's Disease
SYMPTOMS. A tremor in a hand is often the first sign and it may be followed
by increasing tremors that may affect as much as the entire body. There will
be a fixed facial expression, the eyes unblinking, muscles stiffen, drooling
and other signs such as depression and cramplike pains in the limbs & spine.
CAUSES are unknown at this time. It is a chronic disorder of the central
nervous system and may affect the middle-aged and elderly. Certain drugs,
such as strong tranquilizers, that are used for extensive periods, brain
injury and poisoning by carbon monoxide or manganese produce similar signs.
TREATMENT. There is no known cure. Medical treatment is effective for relief
