Neuralgia, Trigeminal (Tic douloureux)
SYMPTOMS. There will be intense facial pain along the fifth cranial nerve
(called trigeminal) that leads from the brain to the face and jaw. The pain
is usually brief and may extend from the forehead to the nose, lips, tongue
and the gums. At first the occurrences is at intervals of weeks or months and
they later increase in frequency.
CAUSES are unknown at this time. It mainly affects older persons.
TREATMENT. Medication may be prescribed. Cold or heat may give some relief.
