  1.                    Otitis Media (Middle Ear Infection)
  2. SYMPTOMS of Acute Otitis Media include fever, chills, earache and feeling of
  3. fullness in the ear. There may also be ear ringing and impaired hearing.
  4. With Chronic Congestive Otitis Media there will be ringing of the ear, loss
  5. of hearing will be gradual and dizziness. With Chronic Purulent Otitis Media
  6. there will be impaired hearing, ringing of the ear, a low-grade fever, pus
  7. will discharge from the ear and there will be a feeling of fullness in ear.
  8. CAUSES of AOM may be from organisms spreading from throat and nose to the
  9. middle ear by way of the eustachian tubes or from an injury of the eardrum.
  10. Causes of CCOM may be from infections of the eustachian tubes or repeated
  11. attacks of AOM. CPOM is usually preceded by mastoiditis or AOM.
  12. TREATMENT. Incision of the eardrum may be required.
  13. .Acute may require antibiotics, antihistamines & decongestants and heat.
  14. .CCOM may require the eustachian tube to be inflated and temporary plastic
  15.  tube be inserted in the middle ear.
  16. .CPOM may include medicated ear drops and antibiotics.
