FT470.3
Ross,
Short update to my review of the FT470. I have noticed recently that
the audio on 2m is occasionally interrupted very briefly when the 70cm
band is operational. I have traced it to the CTCSS squech decoder, which
I use since I live near 2,000 ft and hear several repeaters on 145.43. Our
local repeater transmits PL. It appears that the additional synthesizer noise
injected by the sub-band (70cm) causes the decoder to drop out periodically.
It is possible that our repeater PL level is a little low, and I have not
found another 2m repeater that transmits PL to test it on, but it is
a bit annoying, to say the least. The problem will disappear if you shut
down the sub-band, or shut off the CTCSS decoder for 2m.
73,
