DX Bulletin 25 ARLD025
From ARRL Headquarters
Newington CT May 20, 1993
To all radio amateurs
Thanks to Bob, WB2CJL; the Western New York DX Association; and
Pete, KB1HY, for the items in this week's bulletin.
SPRATLY ISLANDS. Martti Lane, OH2BH, is cruising the Caribbean.
After this, OH2BH and crew will be leaving for Malaysia and then on
to the Spratly Islands. They plan to have Spratly on the air by the
end of May.
DODECANESE ISLANDS. K5BDX will be active from Rhodes as SV/K5BDX
from May 25 through 31. He will be active in the CQ World Wide WPX
CW contest. QSL via NA5U.
ETHIOPIA. Sid, ET3SID, has been very active on SSB and RTTY.
During a recent QSO, he spoke of plans to get a satellite station up
and running sometime soon. Sid will be in Ethiopia for two years.
WALVIS BAY. There was plenty of activity from ZS9-land over the
past week, especially on 15 meter SSB and RTTY. Keep an eye open
for PacketCluster spots.
SAN FELIX ISLANDS. XQ0X on San Ambrosio Island has been available
nightly on 18070 kHz between 0000 and 0400z. QSL via CE3ESS.
BOSNIA HERZEGOVINA. Many hams from this area have been more than a
little conspicuous sporting their new T9 call signs. Prefixes heard
on the air recently include T91, T93, T94, T95, T97 and T99.
WHAT'S UP WITH SATELLITES. Look for Lesotho showing up on the birds
sometime in July. Stay tuned to W1AW bulletins for details.
K7JA has been active on OSCAR 13 from the Yaesu Caribbean Cruise.
He signed 8P9EX from Barbados on Wednesday, and FM/K7JA from
Martinique on Thursday. Upcoming stops will be J3, PJ2 and P4. For
mode B contacts, check 145.870 MHz for CW and 145.890 MHz for SSB.
THIS WEEKEND ON THE RADIO. The ARRL 50 MHz Spring Sprint, a four
hour event, starts at 2300z Saturday. There have been good 6 meter
openings the past week, so this weekend may be prime time for DX on
this band. Check page 110 of March QST for more details.
