1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 Overview
ZAPZAK in Epsilon Nine is an add-on module for play with Epic
Megagames' ZZT v3.2. Copy the file ZPZK-E9.ZZT into your ZZT
directory and either type "ZZT ZPZK-E9" at DOS or select it
from the World Menu in ZZT. ZPZK-E9 is the culmination of
many monthes of work and I do require that you register your
copy with me in the non-monetary way described in section 3.1
as promptly as possible, if you enjoy the game. Thank you.
1.2 What is ZZT?
If you are asking this question then you will not be able to
enjoy ZAPZAK without a game program called ZZT written by Tim
Sweeney and distributed by Epic Megagames. ZZT is shareware
and can be found as $ZZT.ZIP on most major BBSs. It is avail
-able as a free download from Software Creations. The number
for Software Creations is (508)368-7036 or 4137. ZZT has text
based graphics and uses its own language called ZZT-OPP; the
action/adventure games you can make have no boundries aside
from you own imagination. It's worth checking out.
1.3 Files distributed
The .ZIP archive entitled ZZT-ZPZK.ZIP should include:
FILE_ID.DIZ . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . description file

2. PLAYER'S GUIDE
2.1 Game story
Space...diamonds scattered on a black velvet cloth..every facet
holds a story..a secret...a muffled scream. Your scream is
stranded alng with you in a desolate penal asteroid known as
Epsilon 9.
The year is 3041 A.D. and humans are considered the alien trash
of the universe; earth...a haven for murderers, ATM repairmen,
cut-throats, pirates, and lawyers. Even Waly World is a dive.
Your eyes open to slits, just enough to view the room, and your
sight falls upon two aliens; one is talking to another who res-
ponds with hand gestures and flatulations. They occasionally
throw a glance at your body slumped in the corner to see if you
have awaken. They don't notice you squinting at them.
Klaxons sounding, the hum of a force field, and a faint snore
fill your ears and tickle your eardrums. Sights, smells, the
sounds, and the feel of your calloused hands against the cold
metal floor all thrown into a cauldron, set to boil and swirl
-ed together, make for a thick pallete of dread.
Your name is Zak, a bounty hunter registered with the bounty
guild. Your father was a bounty hunter, your grandfather was
a bounty hunter, and your great-grandfather was a lush; the
latter family member is hardly mentioned except when you're as
drunk as a huskie dog that figured out how to get that damn
barrel off his neck. Every male member of your family has
been named Zak (even great-grandfather Zak) after the alterian
name for a live explosive, (similar to 'Fire In The Hole!')...
ZAPZAK
2.2 Game style
Gameplay is typical of any other ZZT game you've ever played like
TOWN.ZZT which comes with ZZT. The smiley faced guy is manue-
vered through traps and puzzles while interacting with objects,
but ZAPZAK is slightly diiferent in the fact that I do not use
the typical things associated with ZZT like gems, torches, ammo,
lions, tigers, etc. I felt it would make for a more original ZZT
game. The game story (section 2.1) does not tell what the overall
purpose of the game is (aside from escape); that is up to you to
find out.
