Stunts Track Edit v1.0
The complete Track and Terrain editor for Stunts! VGA & Mouse required!
Why was it made? I talked to everyone I knew who played stunts and they all
agreed it was a pain to create a course when you have to scroll the screen
around all the time.
When I started off, I noticed there was extra data in the track files. So I
decided to see what it was. Turned out to be the terrain or land. I am still
puzzled as to why there wasn't a terrain editor included with Stunts. Or was
there, and I just didn't know how to get into it? no matter, you would have
had to scroll around, so again a pain in the butt.
Usage:
The editor itself is simple to use. I have included on screen help for all the
command keys. However I'll tell you what the mouse buttons do since a mouse is
mandatory!
There are 2 modes of editing, terrain and track mode. Use tab to toggle
between the two modes. When in terrain mode, the track will not be affected
when placing/deleting squares. When in track mode, the terrain will not be
affected. The editor does NO CHECKING for illigal tracks and what track pieces
can go on what terrain. I'll leave that up to Stunts :) In case you didn't
figure it out, the light green square in terrain mode is elevated land (just
like in Stunts).
Mouse buttons:
Left - Place/Get piece (same as enter or space)
Right - Delete the square (same as delete key)
Both - Pickup a piece from anywhere on the grid (same as insert key)
Tips on creating a terrain. I spent time trying to perfect the edging routine,
to make creating hills more so than rivers/lakes easier. Simply apply elevated
land squares, hit E to edge and edges will be put on your hills. Stunts seems
to be strict with the terrain, it must be perfect from what I've found. The
edging still isn't 100% so some touching up will probably be required. Come
on, what do you expect? This is not crippled and you will find the edging will
be successfull most of the time, if you are serious about the hills you want to
make and not just going crazy with the mouse :)
End of text:
I don't believe in crippling software. A crack or registered version will just
find its way around soon enough. So all I ask is for your support. Any
contribution is welcome to encourage me to continue development of the editor.
I'm open for suggestions, so please send them to me if nothing else. If I
get enough interest, I'll consider releasing a SVGA 800x600 version, which will
be identical to this version, only the pieces will look identical to those in
Stunts. As well the multi square track pieces will be displayed as whole on
the screen. Its amazing to think how much more room there will be since the
text will be smaller. Not to mension all the bugs that would be fixed :)
As well the 800x600 version would provide a grid like screen. Its a little
hard at first choosing and editing with this VGA version, but only your support
will convince me to bother modifying the current version for 800x600.
