THE TRAINER :
Welcome again to the wonderful world of Trainers.If you're a "True" gameplayer
I'd suggest passing this file by or at least waiting till you have mastered the
game then feel free to play around with the Trainer later.
Now if you are like the rest of "US" then you need a bit of help every now
and then or perhaps you just want to do things in the game that the game itself
isn't to co-operative about.With this Trainer you can now explore some creative
alternatives to the normal game play and give yourself the Advantage!
This Trainer will work only with the Final V1.1a 7/1/93 of Xwing Fighter :
Imperial Pursuit.There was a change by Lucasarts to fix a bug with the
Targeting Computer not locking On properly.You can obtain a copy of this update
from Lucasarts or from them online on some of the Major Networks that they have
Support Forums.(Compuserve Go Gamepub and it is in thier Library.)
With this UN-Registered Version of the Xwing Fighter : Imperial Pursuit
Trainer you will only be able to use a few functions.These are the Timer
Trainer that allows you to Freeze your Time (ON/OFF) and the ability to turn
OFF the game's check of it's Internal Cheat modes.
Also included is the simple perma-Patchmaker to allow you to make changes to
the FLIGHT.OVL file that will make the F8 (Turn off Game CHeat Flag Check)
Trainer function permenant.This way you will not have to keep toggling the
F8 Trainer Function each Mission to turn off the check.Just change it once and
you won't have to worry about it again.(or use F8 during the game!)
( SEE BELOW ABOUT HOW TO REGISTER and GET ALL the TRAINER FEATURES! )
HOW TO : (PATCHMAKER)
Use Pkzip 1.1 or higher and UnZip this whole package into your \XWING
(Imperial Pursuit) game directory.Then just run the file IMP-PAT.COM and
it will present you with 3 choices :
[1] Patch the Flight.Ovl File
[2] Remove the Patch (Restore original Code)
[3] Exit to DOS
Select 1 to change the Flight.Ovl file so that you can use the In-Game Cheats
but never be penalized for using them.Also by doing this you won't have to
constantly use the F8 key for each Mission as before to Bypass the check.
Select 2 to fix the code so it returns to Normal.Now the game will penalize
you for using the Cheats (Built-In...not mine of course..).You can still toggle
the F8 key at the end of each Mission though with the Trainer to eliminate this
,but it it has to be done Mission by Mission if you haven't made the Patch.
Select 3 to Quit and Return to DOS.
HOW TO : (TRAINER)
Use PKzip V1.1+ and Unzip the Trainer files into your Imperial Pursuit game
directory.Change to the \XWING game directory (if you are not already there)
and type IMPTRNS.COM.You will see the opening Trainer screen which will remind
you of the various Trainer functions available to you during gameplay.Press any
key and Xwing : Imperial Pursuit will be loaded by the Trainer for you.
Once the game has loaded up use the following keys to your Advantage :
(During Space Combat ONLY!)
F7 - Pressing F7 Once will Freeze the Game Timer.Press it again
and the flow of Time will be restored to normal.
F8 - Press this key to Turn OFF the Game's Check of it's
Internal Cheat Functions (The Cheat Options you Select by
Pressing ESC during Space Combat).When you use these
the game penalizes you for doing so.Use this function JUST
after the Mission Complete message and prior to entering
Hyperspace for each Mission to remove the check the game
does of this.
NOTES on ABOVE Trainer Functions :
When using the Timer Trainer and it's functions be careful not to give
yourself TOO MUCH Time,especially during the Proving Grounds.Time over 20:00
will take a LONG Time to count donw at the end of each level for Bonus Points
and some extremely HIGH Time levels on later Proving Ground Levels may LOCK UP
the game.
The reason for you must use the F8 Function for each Mission that you use
the In-Game cheats on is that the code for this is loaded in form disk
in an overaly each time you goto a menu choice or select the ESC menu during
Space Combat.So any change made PRIOR to selecting something that must load
in from disk will just be wiped out when the Space Combat code is loaded in
again.
Please note that by using the Patchmaker for this function (F8) you have no
need to press this key.A safety has been built in that checks to see if the
permenant change was made.If it was then the Trainer will return a keypress
feedback but will take no action.It will work however if you restore the code
to normal using the Patchmaker.
WRAP UP :
A new addition to the Trainer engine is the abilaity to manipulate the PC
Speaker keypress feedback.I added this as that has been a common question
people have asked about.Now you can change the pitch up,down or off.
The controls are as follows and should remain the same for all subsequent
Trainers unless otherwise noted.At any time use these keys to change the
PC Speaker sound :
SHIFT+F11 - Press this for a Higher pitched keypress feedback.
SHIFT+F12 - Press this for a Lower pitched keypress feedback.
SHIFT+CAPSLOCK - Toggle ON/OFF the keypress feedback from the PC Speaker.
Press these keys any time or as many times as needed to get the desired
effect.Also note that for Trainer functions that Toggle ON/OFF the ON keypress
will always be a LOW pitch then a HIGHER pitched tone and the OFF will be
the reverse (a HIGH pitched tone with and immediate LOWER pitched tone).
A note on the Engine these Trainers are written.Because the opeing and closing
screens are in ANSI format if you do not use ANSI.SYS or some other ANSI
driver the screens will come out as garbage on the screen and make alot of
mess/noise.To conserve space a detector for ANSI is left out as is an error
handler for that case.ANSI.SYS can be found with your DOS device drivers and
variations of it can be located almost anywhere in the PD world.I apologize to
anyone experiencing troubles due to this.If you contact me I can see about
making a pure text opening menu/close screen format for non-ANSI users.
There are no known problems so far with the above trainer(s)/editors so enjoy.

GREY ASTERIK (*) - Each time this key is pressed 1 Minute will be added to the
current Time.
GREY MINUS (-) - Each time this key is pressed 1 Minute will be subtracted
from the current Time.
F11 - Press this key once and your Xwing Fighter will zap into
"Warp Speed".Your Xwing Fighter will be travelling in the
high 900's.Note that the Speed will keep scrolling down and
eventually start to roll back to the original value prior to
Warping.This is just a built in feature of the game that
keeps you honest (well partially honest).It will take a
while for it to scroll back down to normal (a LONG while)
so no need to worry.Hold onto your hats!Press this key
again and it will instantly Stop your high rate of speed
and quickly click back to the previous rate of speed prior
to the Warp.
F12 - This key is the same as the above but is for "Warp Speed" in
the Awing and Ywing Fighters.Use this key for the A+Ywings
and the above for the Xwing Fighter.Other than that this
function performs identically to the above.
SCROLL LOCK - Press this key once and it will activate the Targeting
Trainer.Press it again and it will turn it OFF.
(These keys are ONLY Active when the Targeting Trainer is ON!)
F5 - Press this key and the Current Target will have it's Hull
and Shield Strength dropped to ZERO.Now it will take just
one shot of ANY weapon to destroy even a Star Destroyer.
F6 - Press this key and the Current Target will be Protected from
Destruction by giving it Super Shields that will never be
damaged.Any Target that is Protected with this function is
Impervious to All Attacks.Great for defending Rebel Ships.
(The Follwoing Keys are Active ONLY at the "Change Tour of Duty Desk")
F1 - Press this and the Current Mission # in Tour 1 will Advance by 1.
F2 - Press this and the Current Mission # in Tour 2 will Advance by 1.
F3 - Press this and the Current Mission # in Tour 3 will Advance by 1.
F4 - Press this and the Current Mission # in Tour 4 will Advance by 1.
SHIFT+F1 - Go Back 1 Mission # in Tour 1.
SHIFT+F2 - Go Back 1 Misison # in Tour 2.
SHIFT+F3 - Go Back 1 Mission # in Tour 3.
SHIFT+F4 - Go Back 1 Mission # in Tour 4.
