  34. the MCCOYs in a randomly vegetated environment.

  36. They run a little bit faster than the MCCOYs, and attack
  37. them persistently from behind.

  39. Notice that this energy-intensive adaptation ceases
  40. to be appropriate once the MCCOYs are defeated, and the
  41. CRUISERs adapt by slowly reducing their metabolism.
  42. This occurs because CRUISERs are competing with each
  43. other.  The ones with lower metabolisms tend to
  44. spawn more.  (It takes many thousand time ticks for
  45. this effect to become visible.)
