TICKER SYMBOL - COMPANY NAME LISTING CURRENT AS OF 23 MAY 1993
The accompanying list of ticker symbols, corresponding company names, and
markets traded in covers about 99.9% of all the primary common stock of
companies listed in the major markets; NY, AMEX, NASDAQ, and NASDAQ Small
Cap. I suspect that there are about 100 or so missing, but it's mighty
painful to pick them up. Also included are several (about 20) indices
carried by Basic Quotes, such as the SP 500, DJ 15, 20 and 30, COMP, and a
few others. There are a few funds listed on NY included that technically
are not companies. Where a company has multiple classes of common listed,
usually only one is included here. Preferred, warrents and options are not
included.
This list is accurate, and has been validated against CIS Basic
Quotes, as of the date listed above. Note that in some cases
there is a mis-match between a ticker that CIS LOOKUP yields and a
corresponding quote that Basic Quotes yield. CIS Feedback has
been contacted about these, but after a year or so I've given up.
Usually they acknowledge my report and that's the last I hear from
them.
Considering the whole market, names and tickers change at about
an average of 30 per week. Some tickers change, some company
names change, some companies are delisted (merged, bankrupt, or
don't otherwise meet the listing criteria), and of course the new
or added issues. So you can see, any list such as this can
rather swiftly get out-of-date, especially in the NASDAQ Small
Cap listings, where most of the changes seem to occur.
The listing is an ASCII text file, with each line 50 characters
long, terminated by a standard CRLF. The ticker is in column 1,
the company name begins in column 10, and the market indicator
(surrounded by parens) is in column 49.
I will attempt to occasionally update this list in the Compuserve
Investor's Forum Library; I keep it current on a weekly basis on
my own home machine. If this one is more than a month or so out
of date by the time you recieve it, drop me a message and I'll
upload a current one. INVFORUM and Email are checked generally
every day, although I occasionally travel and am offline without
portable brains. If no response, prompt me again in a week or so.
