  3. This file contains information about last minute changes to PDL or other
  4. important user information.  It will also get you started if you do not
  5. have time to read the PDL.DOC file.

  8. What's New
  9. ----------
  10. PDL322 is a maintenance update to support changes that were made to the
  11. Market Update section of Prodigy on 5/26/93.
  12.  
  13. PDL321 was a maintenance update to support changes that were made to the
  14. Market Close section of Prodigy on 5/26/93.
  15.  
  16. PDL320 was a maintenance update that corrects a problem when PDLCONF
  17. attempts to access a disk drive higher that 'G'.  It also corrects
  18. a problem of lost PDL.OUT records when Prodigy fails to send a Form
  19. Feed character at the end of the last page of quotes.
  20.  
  21. PDL319 was a maintenance update that provides support for newer versions
  22. of prodigy which contain a load module named RS.EXE in place of the
  23. PRODIGY.EXE program.

  25. PDL318 was maintenance update that provided minor cleanup following the
  26. changes to the Prodigy(R) Service on 12/03/92.  Several functions have
  27. been DISCONTINUED as they are no longer required and have been replaced
  28. with more efficient methods of downloading.  Specifically, the Quote
  29. Check method of downloading has been DISCONTINUED as well as the X QRQ30
  30. symbol.  Both have been REPLACED with the more efficient PDL AUTOTRAK
  31. feature.

  34. FOR THE STATEMENT 'L ###' AS THE LINE ABOVE ALL OF YOUR INDIVIDUAL

  50. Updates are distributed on the FlexSoft BBS, 510-829-2293, for normal
  51. updates or when Prodigy makes changes to the service.  Refer to the
  52. Prodigy Money Talk Bulletin Board under topic Other Investments - note
  53. PDL UPDATE for announcements on availability of updates.

  56. Installing PDL
  57. --------------
  58. It is best to install PDL in a new directory and not in the same
  59. directory as a previous version.  You will need to copy over your own
  60. PDL.IN file and run the PDLCONF program to configure the new version.
  61.  
  62. PDL is supplied in the .ZIP format and must be "unzipped" using the
  63. PKUNZIP program.  The PDL320 directory should contain the following
  64. files:

  67.          PDLKEY.COM       PDLCONF.EXE      REGISTER.DOC
  68.          PDL.DOC          PDLCONF.HLP

  72. **PDLRUN.BXT is a template file used to create the PDLRUN.BAT file.  Do
  73. not alter this file or the configuration program may not operate
  74. correctly.

  76. Configuring PDL
  77. ---------------
  78.                         PDLCONF.EXE
  79.  
  80. Version 3.2.0 of PDL contains a configuration program to assist you in
  81. building the PDL.CNF and PDLRUN.BAT files.  These two files are
  82. necessary to properly start and run the PDL program.  The program will
  83. attempt to collect information from a variety of sources and then
  84. provide you with a convenient, menu driven method of specifying
  85. additional parameters or changing the automatic ones.  Once the
  86. information is correct, select the Update Parameter Files option to save
  87. the configuration and build the PDLRUN.BAT file.  Be sure to accept each
  88. configuration screen with the F10 key or some information may be lost.

  90. The configuration program is started by typing PDLCONF at the DOS prompt.

  93. Running PDL
  94. -----------
  95. The PDL program is started by typing PDLRUN at the DOS prompt.

  98. PDL.IN
  99. ------
  100. The input file (PDL.IN) can be created by using any ASCII editor (such
  101. as EDLIN) to build the ticker list.  The list format is "TYPE TICKER"
  102. where TYPE is S, F, B, L, or X and TICKER is the symbol name (5
  103. characters maximum).  Do not use a word processor to build the PDL.IN
  104. file unless you know for sure that it doesn't put special characters in
  105. the file.

  107. If you have not registered PDL it will not be able to retrieve the
  108. Market Close pages, Market Update summary, Quote Track lists or more
  109. than 20 quotes when using the PDL AUTOTRAK function.

  113.                            ***WARNING***
  114. PML users may need to download the new PTT program from FlexSoft so that
  115. the quote date can be located for quotes on the first page of Quote
  116. Track output.  This was previously taken care of by the NEW2OLD.COM
  117. program which is no longer supported in PDL.
