  7.                ETCAI is  a computer assisted instructional  system
  8.           designed for electronics and electricity  training. The system
  9.           includes 31 exercises which present,  grade, and  score
  10.           problems  made up  of randomly selected  components and
  11.           parameters.  Extensive graphics are  used with  a  simple
  12.           "pull  down" and    "push button"  user interface.  On-line
  13.           help is  available  in  many exercises.  The material is
  14.           designed to  be useful at the high  school, community college
  15.           ,and trade school levels.  ETCAI is intended  to be used for
  16.           several  training  purposes  including  drill  and  practice,
  17.           competency  development,  competency  testing,  remediation,
  18.           and placement determination. ETCAI should be an useful
  19.           companion to a number  of electronics  and electrical
  20.           computer based  and paper based  tutorials.  Topics covered
  21.           include  AC  and DC  circuits, Digital Principles,  and
  22.           transistors. Exercises  are included  to develop   analysis
  23.           skills,  circuit  action  understanding,  and troubleshooting
  24.           ability.

  56.                Mr.  Ormon  is  an  instructor and  Department  Chairman  of
  57.           Electronics  Technology  at  Mississippi  Gulf   Coast  Community
  58.           College.  He   has  been   teaching  electronics  and   designing
  59.           instructional  material  for 26  years at  MGCCC.  He is  also an
  60.           adjunct faculty member of University of Southern Mississippi Gulf
  61.           Park Campus  teaching courses within  the Electronics Engineering
  62.           Technology Department. Mr. Ormon has long felt that computers can
  63.           and  should play  a larger role  in education  at all  levels. He
  64.           designed  ETCAI  to  encourage  accurate analysis,  thought,  and
  65.           problem solving skills. Mr. Ormon is presently at  work expanding
  66.           the  exercise set  and adding  features for  the next  version of
  67.           ETCAI.  In addition,  he is  developing a  totally  graphic based
  68.           linear  circuit design  system for  projected release  during the
  69.           second quarter of 1994.
