PRODUCT : Paradox for Windows NUMBER : 1312
VERSION : 1.0
OS : WIN
DATE : March 11, 1993 PAGE : 1/2
TITLE : Running Multiple Sessions of Paradox for Windows on a
Single Computer
Intended Audience
All audiences.
Prerequisites
Paradox for Windows has already been installed. DOS Share must
be loaded.
Purpose
To demonstrate how to launch and run multiple sessions of Paradox
for Windows on a single computer.
To run multiple sessions of Paradox for Windows, you will first
need a separate Private Directory for each individual session
(i.e. C:\PRIV1,C:\PRIV2 etc.).
To create separate Private Directories, you can either use the
DOS MD command or you can choose File | Create Directory from
File Manager.
You must also run the Configuration Utility. You can launch this
utility by double-clicking the icon in your Paradox for Windows
Group. If you have not already specified a directory for your
Network Control File please fill in this box. The directory
location is not vital except that full rights are necessary for
that directory. Also make sure that the "Local Share is On" box
radio button is checked.
Below are the setup procedures to run multiple sessions of
Paradox:
1. Make sure DOS Share is loaded.
2. Once you have a separate Private Directory for each
individual session of Paradox, select the Paradox for
Windows icon. Next, select File | Copy (or press F8).
3. Select the group in which to wish to place the new icon
(i.e. Paradox for Windows). Choose the OK button.
4. Click on the Paradox for Windows icon. Select File |
Properties (or press Alt+Enter).

5. In the Command Line box, add a -n, a -p and the new
private directory for this icon (for example,
C:\PDOXWIN\PDOXWIN.EXE -n -p C:\PRIV1).
6. Repeat the above steps to create icons for up to 6
multiple sessions of Paradox for Windows, changing the
private directory for each icon.
7. Now try running a multiple session of Paradox for Windows.
For a list of Paradox for Windows command-line options, refer to
the README.TXT file in the Paradox system directory, and in
