  4. Since the introduction of high-speed modems, it has become apparent that some
  5. telephone lines have a high level of "line noise."  With those lines, it is
  6. often difficult to maintain high-speed communication.

  8. Supra has made several revisions to our firmware that have improved the
  9. capability of SupraFAXModems to communicate on lower-quality lines.
  10. Additionally, we have added the capability to fall back and/or fall forward in
  11. speed to compensate for line noise.  These fixes have enabled many customers
  12. to achieve high-speed communication on lines that previously posed problems.

  14. Unfortunately, some customers still find that on some lines they are not able
  15. to achieve and maintain high-speed connections with SupraFAXModems.  Tests
  16. show that in most cases, the SupraFAXModem is experiencing a high level of
  17. line noise.  It is possible that another modem may work better in some cases.
  18. On the other hand, many users report Supra modems working better than other
  19. brands in poor conditions.

  21. We are currently working on some possible solutions that will enhance the
  22. operation of SupraFAXModems under marginal conditions.  At this point we
  23. believe that it will be possible to enable SupraFAXModems to communicate on
  24. even more phone lines.  At this point we can not provide specific information
  25. on how we will achieve this improvement or on when the solution will be
  26. available.  But as soon as we have more details, information will be posted
  27. in this forum.
