What is it?
----------
BeepMe monitors your phone line by using a modem on either COM1 or COM2, then
calls your pager when your phone rings. I wrote this so that I'd know when
someone had left a message on my answering machine.
Use the Install Program!!!
--------------------------
Beepme requires a file named Pager.dat that tells it how to run. The
Install program creates this file and will copy it and the beepme
program and docs to the drive and directory you specify. If you just
can't stand to use an install program or you have trouble with it, do
the following:
Copy Beepme.exe to the desired directory, using an ASCII editor create
the pager.dat file as follows:
COM1
1200
999-9999,,,,,,
54325425
Pager.log
120
atz
Line one is the Com Port
Line two the baud rate 300-9600
Line three Pager Phone Number and commas to pause.
Line four numbers to page with
Line five Logfile name (Calls are logged to this file)
Line six How long in seconds to wait after phone rings before calling
Line seven Modem Init String (must at least have AT as the program waits
for OK before preceeding)
Waiting for a call
------------------
Once you've configured BeepMe you can then press "W" to start waiting
for the phone to ring. Press ALT-Q to exit the wait mode at any time.
While Waiting you can test your set up by pressing the up arrow key. The
Program will act as if it had received two rings and proceed to delay and
then dial. This is recommended to make sure you have enough commas in
your pager number.
Command Line Switches
--------------------
/W
If you run BeepMe with this switch BeepMe will go straight into the wait
mode.
/Rn
Where n is the number of rings to wait before calling out.
e.q. /R4 will wait for the phone to ring 4 times. This number is limited
to one digit and the default is 2 rings.
To Wait for 3 rings and to automatically start waiting you can call
BeepMe with
Beepme /W/R3 [ENTER]
