Enclosed is just the OS/2 32-bit executable for PoVRay 1.1 beta around the
end of '92 time frame.
I had this in my posession for a long time, but never release it until
now by requests from a number of users. This one is a 'proper port'
and is tested to work (as far as I can tell). A number of APARs for
C Set/2 were opened by me during the porting of PoVRay, and they were all
fixed starting with CS000048 CSD. In fact, I've sent IBM Toronto lab the
source code for this version of PoVRay for testing their floating point
support in C Set/2 (the source was sent with permission from Bill Pulver,
one of the leads in the PoVRay team).
I've changed the source files to fix up numerous floating point problems
with C Set/2 in which PoVRay may trap due to errors such as divide by
zero during trace (this usually means you have a bug with the input scene
file).
There is an 'r' switch for running PoVRay remotely on the server. It is
half-cooked so I'm not going to document how to use it (you'll also need
the client portion of PoVRay, and is not included in here).
This execuatble behaves exactly like the UNIX version, in which you don't
get the actual display from the screen. You only get the status line as
to how far into the trace. You can interrupt it with Ctrl-C anytime and
continue the trace later on with the 'c' switch. I usually take the final
Targa (.TGA) file and run it thru' some conversion programs to convert it
to .GIF.
The source code for all these changes were sent to Bill Pulver of the
PoVRay team sometimes towards the end of '92. I'm not officially in the
PoVRay team and have no more time to work with the source code (I've to
admit it is a fun and interesting project).
This executable works with all scene files I throw at but I can't guarantee
whether it will work with later ones (ones that are close to the PoVRay
2.0 spec). Therefore, this is available "as-is". Have fun...
PS - Of course, you still need the regular PoV package with all the include
files in order to use this executable.
