  7.    Beyond the traditional 'Rithmetic (taught alongside Reading and 'Riting)
  8. lurks more complicated mathematics.  Imaginary numbers combine with their real
  9. counterparts to form complex numbers.  Simultaneous equations are represented
  10. and solved through matrix manipulation.  Numbers (real, imaginary, and complex)
  11. are raised to powers and roots.

  13.    If none of the above makes any sense to you, then you probably won't find a
  14. use for this program.  However, if you understand the purpose of mathematical
  15. operations such as these, but find the calculations themselves to be rather
  16. tedious, then this program should be helpful.  It will perform arithmetic
  17. operations on complex numbers, solve polynomial equations and systems of
  18. simultaneous equations, perform matrix operations, and other similar
  19. mathematical operations.

  21.    Note that this program doesn't do calculus; if you need to compute integrals
  22. or solve differential equations, you'll need a different program for that.  But
  23. if your needs are purely algebraic, you'll probably find the functions you need
  24. here.

  26.    To run this program outside the BIG BLUE DISK menu, type: ^1PASRUN ATOOLBOX^0.

  28.    ^1NOTE^0:  For some unknown reason, this program won't run correctly from the 
  29. BIG BLUE DISK menu on some machines, primarily 80286 systems (AT or compatible).
  30. On most such systems, it will run correctly from DOS.  Also, try removing any 
  31. memory-resident software you may have loaded, and if you're using a boot-up menu 
  32. program like EasyMenu, try booting a plain DOS disk without it.  Memory-resident 
  33. programs and DOS menus may interfere with this program.  (We have no idea why 
  34. this interference occurs with this program and not others, but we'll report on 
  35. it if we ever find out.)
